Associate, eCommerce Category Merchant

Summary

The eCommerce Category Merchant Associate is part of a fast-paced, cross-functional team responsible for delivering a best-in-class eCommerce experience for JOANN. This position is accountable for supporting the eCommerce Category Merchant in achieving financial metrics including sales plans, margin, turn and conversion for designated categories on JOANN.com. In addition, this role will provide guidance to the eCommerce Category Assistant with pricing promotions, filing marketing briefs and links for marketing campaigns for designated categories on JOANN.com during peak season or upon request from the eCommerce Category Merchant. The position will need to support bringing the instore experience alive on site. Having curiosity to learn eCommerce fulfillment methods and thinking customer first is key for this role. This individual is someone motivated by challenges and can think independently to reach key deadlines. This role will serve as a back-up for the eCommerce Category Merchant to designated merchandising teams (DMM, Buyers) to ensure alignment with store strategies while growing online sales, conversion and average ticket and maximizing margin and penetration of ecommerce to total Joann.

Job Duties

• Achieve online Financial Metrics for designated categories by suggesting online assortment, presentation and fulfillment strategies, including exclusive business opportunities to grow online product offering beyond shared assortment with JOANN stores to the eCommerce Category Merchant and store buying team.
• Develop and execute the online promotional and clearance pricing, balancing the omni-channel shopper with the need to drive online sales & profitability with the assistance of the eCommerce Category Merchant. Analyzes data and other information to be reactive and proactive in achieving metrics.
• Partner with the eCommerce Category Merchant to translate in-store merchandising strategies into optimal website experiences by leading the online product presentation strategy for assigned categories working cross functionally with site merchandisers and digital content to bring it to life online and increasing product conversion through recommending site placement, cross sells and enhanced selling information.
• Influences featured products, promotions, page sortation, product boosting on the website and within marketing campaigns leading shoppers to the most ideal landing page with the assistance of the eCommerce Category Merchant.
• Monitor key item inventory and partner with inventory team to ensure optimal web fulfillment.
• Understand eCommerce customer behavior through web analytics. Stay current on trends among direct competitors and best-in-class eCommerce sites.
  
  

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the eCommerce Category Manager in the training and development of an eCommerce Category Merchant Assistant.

Education & Experience

Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Merchandising or related field

Experience Minimum: 2+ years retail experience in eCommerce, Merchandising or Marketing with 1+ years in eCommerce, Digital or Omni-Channel

Experience Preferred: 5+ years of experience with eCommerce software applications (such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud)
