The College of Dentistry’s IT Associate Director is an innovative, dynamic, and forward thinking leader. The role will require an experienced IT leader with a proven record of collaboration, team management, and adapting to changing needs and emerging technologies. As the only public dental school in the state of Ohio, this position ensures that the college is at the forefront of the technology and innovation needed to support its academic healthcare mission and the evolving needs of the patients we serve.

Responsibilities

Identifies changes and trends in computing and systems technology and brings appropriate enhancements forward. Participates in college strategic planning bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as they relate to the college’s goals. Determines long-term college-wide information needs and develops overall strategy for information needs, systems development and hardware acquisition, and integration. Acts as data security officer to assure integrity of all data (administrative, clinical, PHI, research, etc.) and related intellectual property through information security and access management. Acts as highest interface with non-technical user functions in determining overall information systems approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and 7+ years of demonstrated IT/technology management with a history of leadership success in a complex organization (Relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.) Preferred 12+ years.
  • Proven capability to manage IT teams in a flexible, fast-paced, and changing environment
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations
  • Demonstrated experience with technology strategy development and implementation
  • Strong ability to build relationships with stakeholders who represent varied and sometimes competing interests
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as demonstrated by building relationships, open and friendly interactions, initiating communication, responding to others in a timely manner, acknowledging and assessing alternative perspectives, and exhibiting a confident and positive attitude
  • Demonstrated engagement with national organizations
  • Superb organizational skills and attendance record. Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Experience in a healthcare setting as well as knowledge and experience with health IT standards
  • Experience with relational databases, DBMS (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.), SQL, Microsoft Active Directory, data visualization tools, and HIPAA
  • Two years experience with a patient management system required
  • Experience with Axium or EPIC preferred
