This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program for Gorilla Glue to cultivate and encourage a safe work environment for all employees. This role will lead the EHS team across a multi-shift production and office environment .

What will your day look like:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive environmental, health, safety and security program that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of safety professionals in identifying, assessing, and controlling safety hazards in all aspects of the company's operations.
  • Key member of Gorilla Glues Corporate Risk Management team, helping to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead the Gorilla Glue Emergency Response Team, ensuring successful incident response and communication.
  • Responsible for managing and directing compliance with BWC (Bureau of Workers Compensation) and TPA (Third Party Administrators) regulations.
  • Oversees the team and works with legal counsel on BWC settlements, managing costs, and implement strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity.
  • Partners with Operations teams such as Engineering and Maintenance to develop preventable safety programs and protocols.
  • Lead the EHS department's budgeting process, aligning resource allocation with strategic objectives.
  • Represent the company on safety matters to external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, OSHA, and customers.
  • Responsible for the team development and strategy on EHS Training, ensuring employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies for safe work practices. Lock out tag out (LOTO) programs, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration, hazard communication, and forklift safety.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and international requirements regarding shipping hazardous materials / dangerous goods. Also, small fleet control.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies for environmental protection.
  • Champion FDA Compliance and Training: Lead the development and implementation of robust EHS programs to ensure adherence to all relevant FDA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What will you bring to the table?

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (safety, engineering, occupational health preferred), or 10 years of experience in safety & BWC management.

Experience

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation programs.
  • Managing and monitoring physical security safeguards and procedures to help secure personnel and property.
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive EHS risk management strategies, including conducting risk assessments, implementing risk mitigation plans, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage risk effectively.
  • Implement and enforce procedures to ensure worker health through chemical/physical hazard exposure monitoring, workplace injury mitigation, and workers compensation claim mitigation.
  • Experience managing a team of safety professionals.
  • Experience in investigating safety incidents and accidents.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety training programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and guidelines related to EHS functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

  • HAZWOPER training a plus
  • ASP/CSP is a plus.
  • CHMM is a plus.
  • BWC Administration
  • Experience in handling adhesives.
  • Experience in working with and around filling and packaging equipment.
  • Powered Industrial Vehicle training is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the other staff.
