Job Summary: Job Summary: Under the direction and guidance of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant Vice President, John C. Tune Airport (JWN) Airport Manager, is responsible for the safe and professional operation of the MNAA's general aviation facility while delivering first class customer service to all customers and guests. The JWN Airport Manager requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, communication, and strong organizational skills to lead an experienced crew and other FBO team members.

Starting Salary Range $124,319 - $169,142


Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding, responsive, fair, courteous, and respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment.
  • Manages the day-to-day airport operations, safety, and security functions.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of airport laws and understanding of operational standards, airport safety, and security regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Federal Aviation Regulations and TDOT Aeronautics requirements; maintains and updates the Airport Emergency Plan.
  • Manages Airport Credentialing/Airport ID functions in compliance with MNAA policies and procedures.
  • Provides leadership and works with staff to create a high performance, service-oriented work environment that supports the Nashville airport experience.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Authority's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching/mentoring & training staff, planning and directing work, appraising performance and resolving problems.
  • Directs procurement activities including request for quotes (RFQ) and request for proposal (RFP) preparation, vendor selection, contract negotiation, scope of work definitions and ensures contract compliance.
  • Manages the development of specific portions of the airport rules, regulations, and safety programs.
  • Develops, implements, and follows airport safety and security regulations.
  • Develops, reviews, and administers division budgets for operations, and security; assists with the preparation of the Airport Capital Improvement Program (ACIP) submission in coordination with the MNAA Finance department.
  • Manages the noise issues, including coordinating complaint responses.
  • Develops and directs the airport’s emergency response plan and oversees staff training; plans and conducts ongoing safety and job training.
  • Acts as liaison for FAA required equipment services.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations including storm water, hazardous materials, and wetlands preservation; maintains and updates Environmental Compliance Manual.
  • Recommends and helps develop general policies for Airport operations and security activities.
  • Develops, coordinates, and administers the airport’s hangar/plane port waitlist procedure including fees and operating procedures.
  • Follows all safety regulations.
  • Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
  • Supports MNAA's commitment to is culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in airport management, public administration, business administration or related field.
  • 4-7 years managerial experience in the operation of a general aviation or commercial service airport.
  • Class D Driver's License.
  • Certified Member of American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in airport management, public administration, business administration or related field.
  • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) certification (or able to obtain) within 12-18 months of employment.
