Position Overview

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Merchant is responsible for the execution of our merchandise strategy and product assortments which align with the sales and margin objectives of the company. This role works closely with a Merchant, Sr Merchant, or Associate Merchant, and generally supports 1-2 categories.

Performance Requirements

Business & Strategy

  • Understands overall objectives of the department.
  • Demonstrates initiative, agility, and willingness to do what is right/best.
  • Effectively reports current business results and connects current results with future plans
  • Actively participates in continuous learning about the competition and customer and can relate findings to the business
  • Assists merchant in committed and open to buy (OTB) management

Product

  • Assists in building of line plan and assortment.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to bring product strategy to life in all channels of business.
  • Responsible for milestone meeting preparation materials
  • Audit the site to ensure all content is correct & accurately depicted to the customer
  • Understands the PLC and participates in the deliverables

Collaboration

  • Works with cross-functional partners in product management & sourcing, planning, allocation, & visual to execute department strategy, capitalize on business, and solve problems
  • Works closely with a merchandise coordinator on data entry and product information to ensure accuracy for associate/customer facing materials in all channels and accuracy of reporting

Education

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in business, retail merchandising, or fashion merchandising (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree)

Experience

  • 1+ years in Merchandise Coordinator role or other directly relevant experience
  • Retail experience preferred
