Essential Job Duties
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team in a role focused on enhancing student resiliency and fostering a strong sense of community within the college. The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for students, connecting them with vital support services and resources. They will also play a crucial role in organizing student-led groups, orientation sessions, and college-wide events that promote engagement and belonging. Additionally, this role involves supporting student mental health and wellbeing, advocating for students, and contributing to the development of programs that enhance student success and community support.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Help students to build resiliency and a sense of belonging to the college.
Increase awareness and affinity for Poole’s (academic) student culture and community.
Serve as a key point of contact for students and referrals to the college and campus support services listed below:
Mental Health and Wellbeing
Triage student mental health and wellbeing needs and refer them to the Poole College Embedded Counselor, CARES team, or the Counseling Center.
Support the planning and implementation of Poole Wellness Days and Wellness Weeks
Work with the Counseling Center to assess retroactive withdrawal requests.
Meet with regularly with embedded counselor and CARES representative to monitor student progress.
Poole Affinity Groups
Meet regularly with the Student Engagement Program Coordinator to advance the efforts of the 30+ Poole student-led organizations.
Work with student leaders and faculty advisors to coordinate the Poole student affinity groups.
Develop a vision for and manage the daily activities in the Poole Undergraduate Student Resource Hub.
Connect students with college and university-level resources: TRIO , MSA , First in Pack.
Organize college-wide events and celebrations to increase student resiliency and belonging.
Orientation
Manage and coordinate logistics for summer and winter orientation sessions by working closely with New Student Programs and Poole Undergraduate Programs staff and faculty
Oversee communications with students pre- and post-orientation
Symposium
Student Resilience, Advocacy, and Community Support
Work with the Associate Director of Advising Programs to build the Poole Resilience Ambassador Program.
Support students, faculty, and staff through the Bias Incident reporting process.
Connect students with university-level resources.
Connect Poole students with Poole Packways and high-impact experiences including living learning villages, student leadership positions, and community service opportunities.
Assist in planning student celebrations.
National Transfer Week.
Other Responsibilities
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
Strong communication skills: oral, written, and presentation.
Comfortable speaking to large groups.
Excellent interpersonal and counseling skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide array of personalities under pressure and deadlines.
Maturity and ability to interact with students at varying developmental stages in a confidential environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Higher Education administration.
Evidence of effective presentations delivered in a large-group environment.
2 – 5 years of higher education student affairs experience.
Experience advising a student organization.
