Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant Director for eLearning will provide management and oversight of the eLearning team within the Training Resource Center. The position will ensure the efficient and continual functioning and support of the learning management system through management of personnel and system resources. The Assistant Director will oversee the development and deployment of online learning courses using expert knowledge of the systems and the administrative units within the TRC.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in a related field.
  • Master’s degree or terminal degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience in project management or information systems implementation and integration in a college or university setting, with evidence of taking on additional responsibilities, is required. Must have proven skills working with a Learning Management System and eLearning authoring software.

  • Requires broad working knowledge of a specialized/technical function as well as experience within an institution of higher education. Requires the ability to gather, organize, and analyze data in the completion of daily procedures and provide leadership and oversight to solve non-routine problems. Requires the operation, maintenance, and ability to analyze and solve problems with a sophisticated information system.

Job Duties

  • 40% - Provides management, oversight and strategic vision for the eLearning team. Provides vision and strategic leadership in developing and implementing high quality online training courses. Works closely with the TRC Information Technology team to develop systems and processes for intergration with the Training Records Information System. Determines the feasibility and compatibility of new systems integrations and advise decision makers of benefits and potential consequences. Prepares reports regarding training progression, employee usage, and training analytics. Explores new uses of current system to meet changing needs or provide enhanced services. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Provides Professional Leaderhip in the development of eLearning courses. Uses eLearning software to produce SCORM course content. Manages the TRC eLearning staff to effectively plan, design, deploy, update and maintain virtual trainings and courses for statewide stakeholders including the funding agency. Analyzes training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing trainings. Partners with subject matter experts, curriculum developers and eLearning learning specialists to develop and update virtual trainings and courses. Maintains the Content Management System for TRC’s eLearning team. Oversees TRC course/training evaluation system to ensure feedback from participants are incorporated into course changes and updates. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Maintains the integrity and relevancy of TRC Learning Management System. Assesses the effectiveness of eLearning offerings and makes regular recommendations for improvements based on those assessments. Provides quality control for all virtual online trainings and courses and develops information systems policies and procedures to provide support and ongoing training to users as it relates to system integrity. Remains current with regional and national developments in virtual training/education and update staff on these developments regularly. Troubleshoots systematic problems and develop solutions. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Provides Personnel Management. Coordinates production schedules, makes work assignments and manage staff workload. Completes and facilitates the annual reviews of eLearning staff and provide performance feedback. Coaches and guides content developers to deliver high quality learning and development experiences consistent with Quality Matters standards. Recommends and schedules staff development opportunities. - (Essential)

The funding for this position is from federal and/or state funds and is subject to annual renewal. This is a contract EKU position. The position may be considered for full time remote or hybrid work arrangements.
