Assistant Athletic Director

Job Summary: The Assistant Athletic Director shall be responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the overall management of the Cowley College Athletic Department. This person will also direct and assist with game-day management and other athletic related special events occurring within the department.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Athletic Director in the supervision of all contests.
  • Assist with Concessions management and operations.
  • Assist the Athletic Director in coordination of game day management which includes support personnel for all athletic contests, ticket sales, security, athletic trainer and emergency personnel and apparatus.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with the development of the interscholastic athletic schedules and officials’ schedules for all contests.
  • Coordination of transportation for all athletic contests with the Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of Business Services.
  • Organize the Tiger Booster Club Blitz Drive.
  • Maintain all records and correspondence for Tiger Booster Club.
  • Coordinate and assist with the Tiger Skins Golf Tournament, invitations, schedule

workers, silent auction, supplies for the picnic, prizes, etc.

  • Coordination of Hall of Fame activities.
  • Organize the Tiger Athletic Banquet - Invitations, decorations, programs etc.
  • Coordinate development of South-Central Border League high school basketball tournament.
  • Assist Athletic Director with budgeting and finances.
  • Assist Athletic Director with organization and application of scholarships for all sports.
  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail for entire athletic department.
  • Assist Athletic Director in generating purchase orders (PO’s).
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Information and communication with the student social media team.
  • Assist with the Cowley College Foster Parent Program.
  • Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but

not limited to attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending

assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

  • Must maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with

employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.

  • Comply with all College policies and procedures.
  • Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Required Education Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Cowley College athletic programs.
  • Strong office administration, computer systems and software applications.
  • Understanding of NJCAA eligibility rules and compliance.
  • Athletic sporting programs with respect to planning, equipment, compliance issues, and

facility needs.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively; demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal

communications required.

  • Attention to detail and proven leadership experience.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic.
  • Adapt to changing work demands.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports.
  • Proven ability to work with coaches, student athletes, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, and weekends.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of one year of experience serving in an administrative/leadership capacity within a collegiate athletic program. Experience working with coaches and/or faculty.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around campus and other locations; ability to communicate both in person and by telephone; ability to speak clearly; mental capacity to make decisions and follow through with directions; ability to follow safety and security practices; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to perform keyboard functions.
