Position Summary:

The Manager of Alumni Relations is a pivotal role at Fried Frank, responsible for spearheading execution of the firm’s alumni relations program. This role entails close collaboration with the Firm’s Alumni Committee, Firm Management, and other internal departments such as Marketing and Business Development and Human Capital Management. The manager will oversee the alumni portal, drive engagement initiatives across multiple channels, and lead projects including job placement programs, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentations, and relevant social media strategies and campaigns. Key responsibilities also include maintaining alumni data, planning events, and delivering monthly analytics on engagement outcomes to support strategic decision-making.

This position reports to the Director of Business Development and requires a strong background in business development or marketing, proven project management skills, strong interpersonal communications, the ability to work in a team environment, and experience in alumni relations or community engagement, preferably within a legal or professional services context. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the firm to foster a dynamic alumni network, enhancing both the firm’s and alumni community's growth and development.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Alumni Relations

  • In collaboration with the Director of Business Development and dedicated Alumni Assistant, the Manager of Alumni Relations is responsible for the management and oversight of the Firm’s overall alumni relations program.
  • Provide the Marketing and Business Development team, Human Capital Management and Firm Management ongoing data analytics on our alumni as it relates to the individual practice groups and overall firm’s strategic plan.
  • Implement best practices for the successful outreach to the Firm’s alumni.
  • Create & maintain the firm’s alumni standards manual and style guide.
  • Build and manage relationships between Fried Frank and its alumni community.
  • Collaborate closely with the Business Development team to maintain and update key alumni lists, leveraging these relationships to identify and capitalize on opportunities for engagement and strategic partnerships.


Project Management

  • Project manage various alumni initiatives throughout the Firm, including but not limited to, the alumni portal, thought leadership, events, job placement and job board, alumni specific events, CLE presentations, and more.
  • Maintain and promote alumni and the Firm’s presence on the portal. Accountable for overall portal maintenance, online tracking, reporting and visibility enhancement initiatives.
  • Review competitors’ alumni programs to ensure we are current with technology.
  • Develop new tools and strategies to improve outreach efforts to alumni.
  • Review, update and maintain alumni data.
  • Work closely with the Events and Business Development teams to strategize, plan, execute, and attend firmwide alumni events, ensuring each event not only upholds the Firm’s visual identity and stays within budget but also optimizes venue selection and engagement opportunities to strengthen alumni relationships and support strategic business objectives.


Job Specifications:

Education: 4-yearCollege degree required, preferably in business, marketing, communications and/or liberal arts.

Experience: 6+ years’ experience in business development and marketing and/or in practice management, preferably within the marketing department of a law firm or another professional services firm. Minimum 3 years’ experience specifically providing business development support to a practice.

  • Strong communications skills required. Must have excellent team and project management, organization and planning abilities. Must work collaboratively and promote teamwork, productivity and accountability within team. Must inspire enthusiasm, motivation, and positive attitude amongst team and with internal clients.
  • Must have superb client service and interpersonal skills and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels – attorneys, management, peers and direct reports. Must be comfortable articulating and presenting strategic approaches with clarity and practicality.
  • Must work with strong intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness. Must possess rigorous attention to process and detail, with overall pride of workmanship. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment working under pressure and prioritizing competing responsibilities within tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Must be self-motivated and act with integrity and in an equitable and professional manner. Must maintain confidentiality of materials and exercise sound judgment in resolving challenges as they arise. Ability to make appropriate hiring decisions.


Attendance: All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.

Technological Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Must have experience with certain transactional legal industry research tools. Experience with marketing-related databases preferred.

The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

New York Salary Range

$150,000 — $175,000 USD
