Your Role: R&D Laboratory Operations Advisor

As R&D Laboratory Operations Advisor, you will lead lab operations and management and serve as Project Manager for the laboratory move to our new headquarters in Indianapolis. You will oversee overall laboratory operational support, laboratory safety, audit, and inspection readiness. You will also serve as a sponsor for all contract scientist employees, budget management, process improvements, R&D Capex project management and cross functional support across all Elanco business functions (HSE, IFM, etc). As the primary point of contact and leader for the laboratory move from Greenfield to the new headquarters in downtown Indianapolis, you will collaborate with the lab leads, support functions and our external move partners.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Management and supervision of laboratory support personnel, as well spending for all labs at Elanco Headquarters. This includes, but is not limited to functions involving biohazard trash, glassware, autoclaving, sample shipping and receiving, media preparation, asset recovery, work orders, and work related to the move project.
  • Proactively find ways to become more cost efficient in all areas, including sponsoring all contractors supporting laboratory functions, maintaining flexibility in staff to meet dynamic deliverables across our research laboratories.
  • Core member of the Elanco Headquarter Safety, Quality, Facility, IBC, and Global Safety teams, supporting across all Elanco business functions.
  • Triage daily laboratory needs and safety issues to maintain safety and minimize laboratory down time.
  • Work closely with CBRE and IT to manage all instrument repairs, installations, utility modifications, power outages, etc. while working to diligently minimizing workflow interruptions.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: BS in Life Sciences
  • Required Experience: >5 yrs direct laboratory experience

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • 10 + years' experience in Clinical, Pharmaceutical Research, and/or CRO Laboratory settings
  • Experience managing a complex laboratory and related initiatives
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Proven interpersonal skills with demonstrated expertise while working with teams including business partnership
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and comfortable working with more senior levels
