Adjunct Instructor or Professor

The College of Humanities and Sciences is receiving applications for the position of adjunct instructor or professor of health science. We seek applicants holding either a masters degree or a doctorate in areas such as exercise physiology, fitness assessment, exercise prescription, and kinesiology. Experience in community and public health is a secondary need. We particularly invite applicants who will enhance the racial, ethnic, or cultural diversity of our faculty.

North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith, are role models in their piety and ethics, are regularly reflecting upon how their faith influences their discipline and are willing and able to mentor students in their own relationship with Jesus Christ. Faculty are expected to teach in accordance with, and not contrary to the university’s “Statement on Human Flourishing.”

Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching a broad range of health science courses, such as exercise physiology, fitness assessment, exercise prescription, and kinesiology.
  • Effectively utilize and monitor the learning management systems
  • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy and security.
  • Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission
  • In a timely and professional manner, communicate with, and respond to communications from your department chair, associate dean, and dean, as well as your students, and the Office of Academic Records and other relevant staff offices.

  • Mobility: Able to move between buildings and attend classes, meetings, and functions across campus.
  • Speaking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, professionally, and with a contextually appropriate tone and volume.
  • Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and express emotions and thoughts in an honest, collegial, constructive, and prudent manner

TRAVEL

All faculty are expected to be able to travel to campus for all scheduled in-person class sessions

Working Relationships and Schedule

Adjunct instructors and professors will report to the chairperson of the Department of Health Science, who reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Health and Wellness, who reports to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences.
