Accountant/Financial Analyst

Hamilton Health Box (HHB) is a rapidly growing healthcare startup operating hybrid telemedicine-enabled primary care clinics for small and medium businesses across the country. Our goal is to find high potential individuals to drive a high-touch, low-cost healthcare experience for all of our patients and clients.

Position Summary

This role reports to the COO/CFO and works in coordination with the Controller. The responsibilities of an Accountant/Financial Analyst can include reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, preparing financial statements, revenue cycle management (RCM) activities, various financial analysis and reporting activities, and assessing internal controls, including risk assessments. They perform monthly balance sheet income statement changes in financial position/budget variance analysis, assist with the design of budgets for review by management, maintain fixed assets and schedules as well as collaborate across the enterprise to ensure financial controls are met.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinating accounting functions and programs and lines of business.
  • Responsible for the month-end and year-end close process.
  • Verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
  • Responsible for the revenue cycle management process including oversight of our RCM vendor, payment collections and attribution, and payment reconciliation.
  • Preparing, validating, submitting and collecting client invoices.
  • Preparing financial analyses and reports.
  • Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Assisting with annual audit preparations.
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Assisting with the preparation of federal, state, local, and special tax returns.
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Provides input into departmental goal setting and budgeting.
  • Directing internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting departmental needs as required or assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Master’s degree in business or related field (MBA/MHA a plus).
  • Experience in healthcare finance and accounting or similar in healthcare or healthcare-adjacent experience.
  • Managerial/Cost accounting experience a plus.
  • Experience in a startup or rapid growth environment desired.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages (QuickBooks preferred).
  • End-to-end revenue cycle management experience.
  • Payroll experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work across departments (HR, Supply Chain, IT, Clinical, etc) to ensure financial controls are met.
  • Experience managing the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
  • Report building experience in Tableau/Power BI is a plus.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage both short- and long-term projects.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Ability to navigate and manage multiple parallel work streams and projects.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment and a passion for improving the health of underserved communities.
  • This is an in-person role with a strong preference for an early-riser.
