COLLEGE OF MARIN - 2024/2025 FACULTY DIVERSITY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

College of Marin is pleased to announce its 2024/2025 Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP). The FDIP is intended to provide interns who are currently nearing completion of, and/or graduated a maximum of two years ago from, a Master's or PhD program from an accredited college or university with the opportunity to learn about College of Marin and the California Community College system from both inside and outside of the classroom. Interns will gain valuable community college experience and knowledge on how to ultimately gain employment teaching at a community college. This experience will include classroom instruction experience and relevant training.

Interns will be paired with full-time, veteran faculty in their discipline to work closely together over the course of one academic year. The intern will have instructional opportunities to participate in the classroom, working directly with students, the interns will attend monthly training sessions. The program will culminate in the creation of a California Community College Faculty Hiring portfolio for each intern. All classes will be presented in person or online. However, interns are expected to be available in person for other internship activities.

DETAILS

Dates: This is a full-year commitment - Fall/August 2024 to Spring/May 2025

  • Biology
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Library Science
  • Math

Salary Range: $17.00 per hour (10 hours per week)

  • Commitment to using equitable practices in teaching and reflect our diverse student population

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES(see Website For More Information)

  • At the beginning of each term, the mentor and intern should meet to review the intern's learning objectives, the calendar of activities (observations, classroom participation, weekly meetings, etc.), and the best methods of communication.
  • Regularly check and respond to texts, emails, syllabus, course calendar, homework assignments, class assignments and assessments BEFORE the term begins. Discuss topics of interest with Mentor to identify opportunities for participation.
  • Meet with the Mentor at least once per week.
  • Attend professional development and FDIP workshops.
  • Develop and review Job Search Portfolio with help of Mentor.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

The College of Marin does not sponsor work visa applications for FDIP positions. The successful candidate must be able to provide evidence of identity and current legal authorization to work in the United States.
