Position Summary

The People and Culture Business Partner leads activities associated with several People and Culture (PAC)/HR functions including talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, HR data collection and analysis and the development and implementation of institutional policies and practices. The position supports a population of exempt and non-exempt employees located in multiple states.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes talent acquisition strategies and best practices, including managing the applicant tracking system, job postings and interview forms and collecting data on the employee experience.
  • Enhances the new employee experience by developing creative opportunities for staff connections and integration into Ocean Conservancy.
  • Delivers new employee orientation and office tours.
  • Develops and implements equitable policies and practices that support a healthy organizational culture; interprets and applies policies and practices to ensure equity and consistency.
  • Stays abreast relevant developments and changes in employment law and HR Best Practices to ensure that Ocean Conservancy policies and practices are up to date and effective for all states in which OC employs staff.
  • Registers new employees and updates employee changes within the HRIS system; maintains all necessary employee records and HR databases.
  • Partners with staff and supervisors to resolve sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Assists with the communications and preparation of the annual performance review and promotions processes.
  • Organizes learning and development programming and tracks effectiveness; supports the research and development of training materials and resources.
  • Contributes to the development of institutional communications that support overall PAC programs and their success with members of the PAC team; updates the People and Culture intranet site with relevant information.
  • Receives and addresses all requests for verification of employment for former and current employees to include governmental requests, mortgage loan, student loan forgiveness, and employment requests. Responds to inquiries from state agencies and other external parties seeking data collection for industry surveys, or participation in mandatory compliance reporting.
  • Collects and manages critical people and culture data and compliance documents, exit information, and employee surveys that will help populate a quarterly People and Culture dashboard.
  • Answers general employees’ inquiries about PAC-related matters.
  • Creates reports, presentations and analyzes HR metrics.
  • Helps build solutions to enhance employee experience and the overall People and Culture operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief People and Culture Officer.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years demonstrated success in People and Culture/HR roles.
  • Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws; ability to research and stay updated on HR and compliance changes for multiple states.
  • Ability to review policies and practices with a sharp lens and identify gaps and revisions needed to support equity and consistency.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all employee situations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills capable of reaching across organizational hierarchies and structures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient HR software acumen and mature computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, applicant tracking, project and performance management.
  • Experience with ADP software or similar.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or closely related discipline or equivalent years of experience.

Compensation

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected salary ranges for each of its positions. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background. The expected salary range is $79,992 to $117,548. We would welcome the opportunity to connect with potential candidates whose salary requirements may be outside of the expected range.
