Below are some highlights gathered from the report by Auntie CEO Immo Salonen: - 88% experience negative stress - 51% feel that stress affects their ability to work - 21% feel they receive enough support from their employer - More than a third fear that stress could lead to longer sick leave Alarmingly, all figures are also currently moving in the wrong direction compared to previous years. Immo is sure no one needs to be told what the impact of the above is on a company's business when people are working at half-power before they get exhausted and end up on sick leave. He still firmly believes that prioritising mental wellbeing in organisations is not just a moral imperative, but above all a strategic investment that contributes to the success of the business and the overall wellbeing of employees. The highlight of last week was the Presidents Summit in Copenhagen with 4,000 participants and several high-profile speakers with themes such as leadership, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship, innovation and generative AI. So many interesting speakers and VIP talks. Among the most exciting was Dr. Frederik G. Pferdt, Google's first Chief Innovation Evangelist who has trained 25,000 of Google's employees and who believes that we can choose our own future. By turning problems and unexpected challenges into opportunities, we become better at navigating uncertainty. Such a "future-ready mindstate" requires optimism, openness, curiosity, experimentation and empathy. The Professor and entrepreneur Christina Wallace discussed how large established companies can disrupt themselves by partly building their own entrepreneurial systems that support collaboration with the start-ups that develop new technology, partly by creating an innovation culture that allows failure. When I asked about the role of intrapreneurship, she lit up and emphasized that intrapreneurs were the 'necessary sherpas' required to make big companies succeed in continuous innovation. 🌟 Big day! ... in still very challenging and tough financial markets... with the ongoing steadfast support of our larger share holders... we have already secured 60% of a new unit rights issue of DKK 8.94 million... for which I am very thankful 🌟. The focused UK strategy 🇬🇧, the strong position of Brain+ to become a leading provider of tech enabled dementia management, and ongoing operational performance and of course the massive unmet clinical need that Brain+ can help address, are among the reasons for such good support. Brain+ is in the early phase of commercialisation, and in 2024 the target is to close sales in the UK, opening up a major market with possibility for major contract. Health tech contracts in the UK of up € 500.000+ is not unusual, and is what Brain+ will work towards in the coming years, starting with smaller NHS Trust sales, building up towards regional reimbursement and large contracts. I have made a substantial investment in this unit rights issue myself, and so has the rest of the board and management. Where do venture investors put their money right now? AI, life science, and climate are definitely among the top contenders. But different sub-categories also start to emerge. One of them seems to be accounting-related startups. Most recently shown with Danish company Ageras that during the week announced a round of 82M Euro. According to Crunchbase more than 419M Euro have been invested in the space this year alone. Here are some of the most recent rounds: 🇩🇰 Ageras: 82M Euro 🇺🇸 FloQast: 93M Euro 🇳🇱 DataSnipper: 93M Euro Investors have been keen on the space for years, as it fits well with the rational spreadsheet. Little money in on one end, more money out at the other. The trend isn't new. One of the pioneers in the space Intuit turned 40 last year. The game-changer this time around is AI - the promised land of automation seems to be just around the corner. Building in HealthTech vs Building in FinTech 🤔 Those who heard our pitch know my part always starts with "when Helena came with the problem, I had the solution in mind". That's true - at Neonomics we did integrations with banks in a similar way Leyr is now trying to do integrations with healthcare. But is it really a "copy-paste"? 🧑‍⚖️ 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 First thing that comes to your mind when you hear about bank integrations is probably Open Banking or PSD2. It's a great initiative that forced banks to open up their data and let other players to connect to them (via APIs). It's quite a developed framework, and we are now expecting its next iteration - PSD3. There's nothing like that in healthcare just yet. Yes, yes, there are initiatives like European Health Data Space, but they are far from being as defined as PSD2. This results in EHRs (vendors to healthcare organizations) to split in 2 major camps. 🚫 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 Since PSD2 kinda forced banks to develop APIs, you could always expect at least the baseline functionality available everywhere. And as there is no such enforcement in healthcare - you can sometimes see EHR vendors simply saying "No, we don't have that functionality. And no, we are not interested in developing it" - quite difficult to deal with, huh? 🚀 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 On the other hand, since PSD2 forced the baseline 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞, many banks were barely incentivised to develop anything further than that. In healthcare, some of the EHR vendors understand the need for integrations, and even build their business model around them - often providing way more than one would expect. It's like if you not only had AIS, PIS and PIIS (if you know you know) in Open Banking, but could also do deposits, credits, funds, stock trading, opening kids accounts, paying utility bills and so much more via API. This opens up great opportunities for cool apps and services that can use so much data from those willing to integrate. I wish/hope more and more vendors will jump on the interoperability train! 🚂 Both HeathTech and FinTech are great areas to build in, where FinTech offers an easier start, while HealthTech has more of an open field to explore, where the rules for integrations only start to form 🙂
