We need these initiatives in India soon : In 2021, the California Public Utilities Commission issued a mid-term reliability (MTR) mandate requiring utilities to procure 1,000 MW of non-weather-dependent, non-battery, zero-emission energy to increase the reliability of the state’s electric grid. Exus Renewables North America has begun the repowering of the 139 MW Twin Ridges Wind Farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The Twin Ridges repowering project involves replacing the nacelles and blades of the existing wind turbines while retaining the towers and foundations. The repowering will result in a 30% increase in energy generation for the project. “As the wind energy industry faces increasingly complex obstacles to growth, including a nearly 3 GW interconnection queue of renewable energy projects trying to connect to the grid, repowering has become a path to help meet clean energy goals,” said Jim Spencer, CEO of Exus Renewables North America. “Thanks to these upgrades, the Twin Ridges project will generate clean, reliable and renewable power – and millions in community investment – to the region for decades to come.” Exus Renewables will invest approximately $200 million in the project, creating 150 union construction jobs. It expects to inject over $7.35 million into the local economy through the procurement of materials and services from local suppliers and anticipates that over the 30-year life of the project, more than $100 million will be invested in the community through tax and landowner payments. Vestas-American Wind Technology, Inc. will supply American-made nacelles, hubs, blades, and tower adaptors for the project. #cleanenergy

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently issued Order 896 to bolster electric grid reliability during extreme weather events. This significant step requires grid planners to incorporate a new approach to long-term transmission planning.   To support this important effort, EPRI, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and the North American Transmission Forum, Inc. The North American Energy Markets Association is posting this RFP on behalf of our member MPUA. Introduction The Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission dba as Missouri Electric Commission (“MEC”) is issuing a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) associated with meeting forward capacity, energy, and planning reserve margin requirements of the MEC full requirements cities. MEC full requirement pools (MoPEP, MMMPEP, and SWMPEP) are comprised by over 50 Missouri municipal utility cities in the aggregate. MEC is a joint action agency with 70 municipal electric utility members in the state of Missouri, and has the authority to enter into contracts for power supply, transmission service, and other services necessary for the operation of an electric utility in order to obtain a diversified portfolio of cost-based, reliable resources on a long-term basis to meet its member’s total requirements. MEC members have various power supply contracts through MEC or directly with wholesale electric suppliers in the region. RFP Schedule Qualified power suppliers may submit proposals in accordance with the procedures and criteria below for up to 150 MW with certain limitations as described. The deadline for receipt of proposals is Monday, June 24th at 5 PM Central time. MEC will develop a short list based on an initial screening of responses received from this solicitation. It is expected by the end of July, MEC will initiate a second contact with selected respondents to request more detailed information that will assist in final evaluations from which contract negotiations will begin. When in CA, post about CA... April 25 - California is pushing ahead with its energy transition objectives in its latest annual transmission plan, published this month. State grid operator CAISO proposes to invest $6.1 billion in 26 grid improvements to connect new renewable energy projects by 2035, it said. The draft plan will support 38 GW of new solar capacity, in areas such as the Westlands area in the Central Valley and areas in the south near the city of Tehachapi, Kramer in San Bernardino County and Riverside County, as well as in southern Nevada and western Arizona. Most of these grid projects involve upgrading existing grid infrastructure, such as installing transformers or stringing new conductors to existing towers. https://lnkd.in/ekTdHc_8
