As the cannabis industry matures, we are starting to get reliable data. This can help make decisions based on real sales figures and not predictions. 10 years ago, there was only one state with adult use sales (#colorado) and a handful of states with medical seals. Now there is 24 sates with adult use sales and an additional 15 states with medical seals. At the moment #california leads with total seals but #michigan leads with per capita seals. #florida leads in medical seals. #missouri with a relatively small population and only 17 months since they launched their adult-use market, is already in fifth place. There are 5 common license types for manufacturers in California. In the simplest terms, manufacturers, sometimes referred to as producers, make alcohol products. Below is a short summary of these license types. Requires RBS certification for alcohol servers and their managers. ✅Distilled Spirits Manufacturer’s Agent (Type 05) – Permits possession, export, or cut, blend, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits for their own account or for the account of another manufacturer, and the packaging and the sale or delivery thereof. ✅Rectifier (Type 07) – Allows the cut, blend, rectify, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits and wine upon which excise tax has been paid and, whether rectified by the licensee or another person, to package, label, export, and sell the products to persons holding licenses authorizing the sale of distilled spirits. ✅Distilled Spirits Rectifier’s General (Type 24) – authorizes the holder to cut, blend, rectify, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits and, whether so cut, blended, mixed, flavored, or colored by the licensee or any other person, to package, label, export, and sell the distilled spirits to distilled spirit manufacturers. ✅Craft Distiller (Type 74) – authorizes the manufacture up to 150,000 gallons per fiscal year of distilled spirits, excluding brandy. California tax revenue from cannabis has declined each of the last two years from a peak of 2021. (Source:DCC) Where do we expect 2024 to finish? It sure seems to be a broken system, with very few profitable operators. The state is trying, and AB 2223 will be a pivotal moment for the industry. Many brands have given up, and are finding better margins and consumer access in hemp, that allow them to do basic things like make payroll. I voted in favor of prop 64. At the time, I had faith that the state supported profitable industry to boost the economy and provide jobs. I didn't believe they had altruistic motives to improve access to a beneficial plant. I didn't think the mismanagement would be so bad that the industry would already be in a decline 3 years into it. Question: How much tax revenue would we generate for the state if we had low-dose cannabis beverages accessible everywhere alcohol was? How much would we need to tax cannabis beverages to achieve their goal? Allowing adult beverage producers, distributors and retailers to freely sell low-dose cannabis beverages isn't competing for revenue from the dispensary channel. People buy beverages where they already are. Someone ordering a Coke at McDonalds or a Red Bull at a concert wasn't going to buy the same drinks at a grocery store later that day. Please tell me where I'm wrong, or your ideas to fix this decline -

For 170 years, the California State Fair has showcased the state's rich agricultural bounty. This year, for the first time in history, a state-sanctioned fair will allow onsite cannabis consumption and sales. This year, the event will expand to include not only a broader cannabis competition but also onsite sales and consumption, announced via a press release. This initiative represents a significant step forward in normalizing cannabis use and highlighting its large role in California's agricultural landscape. Allowing cannabis sales and consumption at the fair is more than just a novelty; it's a crucial step in destigmatizing the plant and facilitating a deeper connection between consumers and cultivators. So - seeing as I have a pretty big network I thought I'd throw this out to the room. I have tons of footage from the last 2 harvest seasons, lots of farms, events & gatherings & even lent a hand harvesting myself. LOTS of stories just waiting to be produced & edited. I could make an episode a week if I focused all my time on it and it'd be cost effective as I'm a soloist (script/voice/edit without help) that knows the market well & I'd even talk promo tie-in's with the right partner with the farmers OK. I've been running the Monster Gardens channel on Youtube for 9yrs & built it from 16k subscribers to its current 82k producing 16.5 million views & over a million hours of watched content so I know how to grow cannabis audiences using the tiny slice of traffic the platform's adult rating allows creatives in cannabis (less then 0.5% of traffic once content is deemed "adult"). I know I should probably quit trying to get this made but I'm convinced this series has legs & will do wonders for the profile of anyone supporting it & I've been organizing footage all week onto a new drive system & seeing it all again & remembering the stories I captured in what most think of as 'the sketchy parts' of the triangle has my feet all itchy to do more & change how folks view weed country & culture - because I guarantee it's not what you think. “Every sale of THC beverages outside dispensaries robs the state’s cannabis tax fund roughly $6.08,” Caren Woodson, president of the California Cannabis Industry Association. This quote is entirely uninformed and sensationalist. Tax on zero sales is zero, nobody wants to buy low dose beverages in dispensaries and dispensaries don’t want our drinks! The dispensary ecosystem is not built for beverage. Also why do you think people are leaving your hyper taxed weed alone? Could it be you expect to take an extra 6 dollars from your constituents?
