Our 2021 safety recommendation to NAV CANADA (A21-01) for called graphic depictions of closures and other significant changes related to aerodrome or runway operations to accompany the associated NOTAMs in a timely manner so that the information communicated on these hazards are more easily understood. This recommendation is now closed after being assessed as Fully Satisfactory following NAV CANADA’s significant improvements to the NOTAM publishing procedures, effectively reducing the risk associated with the identified safety deficiency. Today, as part of #CANSEC2024, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos made several important announcements related to defence and aerospace procurement in Canada. Minister Duclos updated participants on the upcoming Canadian program for cyber security certification. The Minister also announced 3 contract extensions for the Royal Canadian Air Force | Aviation royale canadienne’s existing fleet of CH-149 Cormorant and CP-140 Aurora. He announced a first contract amendment, with IMP Aerospace, to extend services to the CH-149 Cormorant fleet until 2032. Minister Duclos additionally announced 2 contract amendments with IMP Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies MAS to extend the CP-140 Aurora’s in-service support contracts until 2030. Yesterday, at the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries’ annual defence industry tradeshow (#CANSEC2024), the Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, announced significant investments aimed at equipping the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). This includes a 25-year contract valued at $11.2 billion (including taxes) awarded to SkyAlyne Canada Limited Partnership for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program. Through this contract, Canada will procure over 70 training aircraft divided into 5 fleets. Additionally, the contract will include classroom instruction, simulator and flight training, as well as numerous on-site support activities for prospective RCAF Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators. This #investment marks the largest recapitalization effort for the RCAF since the Second World War. 👆 This news complements the global trend of investment in the #defense sector, driven by the heightened political tensions worldwide, Russo-Ukrainian War, and the military actions in the Middle East. The defense industry is interested in new solutions, including software, and we at JetSoftPro are actively working in this direction.

This is a very interesting article on how bureaucracy is getting in the way of the safety of CSC personel and inmates. The technology exists to keep drones out of prisons, it is readily available and has been trialed and proven. The safety of CSC personel and the inmates is being blocked by government bureaucracy to revamp old legislation to reflect the existing and emerging technologies. https://lnkd.in/eD7thpAH

Today's announcement that Canada hopes to meet the 2% #NATO defence spending commitment by 2032 is underwhelming at best. Meaningfully addressing the new and evolving threats in the global #security environment will require a credible plan that is serious about shoring up and modernizing our #defence industrial base. Having a detailed and credible plan for meeting this commitment is not only integral to reestablishing Canada’s reputation as a dependable security partner—it’s also essential to maintaining our critical #trade relationships. As we approach the US Presidential election and the 2026 #CUSMA review, it is especially important that we show the world we continue to be a reliable ally. Airport Security: Hospitality and security: Culture: The challenge with airport security is to find the balance between security and hospitality. One does not have to be at the expense of the other. Most complaints are not about what happens but about the communication. It is the passenger's perception. A very good body search does not have to result in a complaint if it is done with respect and in a friendly manner. The same applies to the luggage search. If there is positive interaction with the customer, the security agent also has more opportunities to identify deviant behavior and thus raise the security level. Airport security is the use of conscious communication for hospitality reasons, but even more so from a security point of view. The starting point is to give passengers a good feeling and to minimize complaints. This culture starts with combining security with hospitality in the initial training and making it an integral part of the corporate culture, stimulated and motivated by the management.

We’ve passed technical evaluation (thanks to our extensive clinical data) and now need a federal department to test our technology before we can officially become a Government of Canada vendor (testing costs covered by Innovative Solutions Canada, as well as procurement costs thereafter). You can see from the article from CBC News regarding the Pearson Airport heist arrests, this is a strong definition of insider threats, which refers to individuals within an organization who exploit their position or access for malicious purposes. It's important airport operators and their respective States pay close attention to this. As we prepare to start facilities work for the introduction of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Preclearance at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, we’re getting ready to bid farewell to one of our boardrooms, named in honour of Elsie MacGill, the world’s first female aeronautical engineer and Canada’s first practicing woman engineer.   We couldn’t think of a better way to send off the “Elsie Boardroom” than to host an Ontario Chamber of Commerce roundtable with Ontario’s Associate Minister of Transportation, Vijay Thanigasalam. Today, many topics were discussed, including aviation’s role in driving a strong economy for Ontario. Fittingly, by late 2025, this space will be dedicated to Preclearance, which will open up new routes to the US and potentially result in $5.3 billion in total annual economic output for the city, province, and country.     #airports #aviation #onpoli #transportation
