    “I had the chance to see Paul’s work over 12 years at NOVA Parks. Upon arriving he embarked on improving and upgrading the agency in numerous positive ways. Institutional culture improved dramatically through mission driven planning, revenue focus and staff management based on goal orientation and accountability. A coalescences of strategic planning, open communication and staff inclusion realized multiple improvements across the agency. As a result, revenue improved markedly. Importantly, all these advances came from an approachable, open minded leader genuinely committed to staff advancement and organizational growth. Paul’s skills are notable and consistent with the best authentic leadership. He publishes routinely on leadership and park management while teaching at the university level.     “Paul Gilbert was one of my favorite professors at George Mason.He made his lecture a lot of fun and at the same time very informative and interesting. I loved his comparison between corporate leadership and fellowship to past leaders of the civil war. I really enjoyed reading his book "Lead like a General" which exemplified all the different innovative strategies leaders used to get ahead of their opponents. Perhaps the most valuable lesson I took away from Paul's class is that with the right approach, drive, motivation and attitude anything is possible. He has been a great model of success, and inspiration for me and it was a pleasure to be his student.”
