    Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) is the largest child health research institute in
    Australia and one of the top three worldwide. Our team of more than 1,600 talented
    researchers is dedicated to making discoveries to prevent and treat childhood conditions.
    Many of our researchers are also clinicians at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne,
    where the Institute is based. Their research is informed by the problems facing their patients
    but it also means when a discovery is made, this is quickly transformed into practical
    treatments for children in the hospital.

    Nationally, we are first in category and we sit within the top 10 medical research institutes
    and Group of 8 universities based on NHMRC grant success – in a very competitive grant
    funding environment, MCRI has maintained its success rate for NHMRC at around 25-32% -
    national average over the last few years has been ~17%

    My role as Board Member is to work on strategy and execution with Mr. Pinkow and my fellow board members. My responsibilities also include supporting fund raising, idea generation, event coordination and execution, and allocation of proceeds towards different initiatives supporting the visually impaired.
