Today, Edelman Smithfield released the 2024 Edelman’s Trust Barometer Supplemental Report: Insights for Financial Services. The report reveals valuable insights for navigating today’s dynamic markets. Among the findings: 📢 The global public’s trust in the financial services sector has reached its highest level (62%) since the 2008 financial crisis. In Canada, trust scores rose by 5% to 59%. 📢 Banks are the only trusted subsector in Canada (compared to insurance, investment management, fintech and crypto). 📢 Those aged 55+ are the least trusting of financial services companies.   📢 Employees in the financial services sector are the second-most trusting of their employers We’re working on a specific report about the Canadian findings – so stay tuned for more. Let me know if you’re interested in discussing the findings and opportunities for your organization.

Global Strategy Group has been tracking the relationship between companies and social responsibility for almost a decade, and year over year, our polling shows a vast majority of Americans believe that corporations have a responsibility to bring about social change. When it comes to solving the most important issues facing society, including racial injustice, wealth inequality, and climate change, Americans expect companies to play a role. However, despite the countless benefits derived from environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives for employees and consumers, the movement faces continued political backlash and headwinds, including congressional hearings, lawsuits, and anti-ESG legislation particularly in conservative states such as Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. Last month, we convened high-level executives from influential corporations and organizations grappling with #ESG issues for a closed-door roundtable conversation. My deep thinking was triggered this morning by a friend who knows what inspires me (Maura McGinn) sharing the latest Lean In and McKinsey & Company report, "The State of Latinas in Corporate America." As a Latina leader who has invested my sweat equity to reach the C-Suite, its findings made me think about my career journey and the importance of this data to inform how I build opportunity for Latinas – because the reality is that I feel it is a key responsibility. Latinas face unique challenges across the corporate pipeline, often encountering obstacles at crucial stages of advancement. The climb to management is hindered by what the report aptly terms "broken rungs." Becoming a manager, and moving from Director to VP, pose formidable hurdles. At the same time, Latinas' diverse perspective is a superpower, because being bicultural allows us to bridge gaps and shatter barriers that can add material value to companies' bottom-line. I've worked hard to leverage my background, observing, assimilating, and ultimately, driving change. Authenticity has been my compass, thriving in environments where mutual respect is part of the corporate culture and understanding when the fit isn’t right. My journey in the corporate world was a self-navigated and self-taught one, as (while I had a completely supportive family) I didn't have family members in corporate roles. This also meant I had to seek out role models and mentors who could guide me in my career. It is these experiences and relationships that fuel my unwavering commitment to paving the way for future Latina leaders, ensuring they have the support and guidance they need to succeed. I will continue my work to cultivate corporate environments that acknowledge the significant contributions Latinas offer through their business acumen and diverse perspectives. Top takeaways from the "Beyond the Basics: A #GenerativeAI Masterclass for Business Communicators" at #IABC24. Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending a workshop led by Matt Russell from the Mayo Clinic. The masterclass focused on leveraging #ChatGPT and other AI tools to grow and enhance business communications. Here are my top takeaways (first draft thanks to ChatGPT;) 1. Expand AI Use: Start using tools individually and then scale their uses across teams for enhanced productivity. 2. AI in Project Management: Integrate AI into project planning to streamline processes and boost efficiency. 3. Promote AI Integration: Develop strategies to advocate for AI adoption, keeping in line with policy and culture, while staying on top of advancements.

💡 Excellent perspective from Emma Hinchliffe in today’s The Broadsheet newsletter from Fortune on how Aishwarya Iyer’s communications career prepared her for her role as CEO of Brightland.   ⭐️ A few highlights from the article: During her career in public relations and communications for brands including Lancôme and the tech and media business Whisper, Iyer “got comfortable with discomfort, the gray, and the unknown.” “I got used to two truths being true at the same time—you can have an amazing story you’re pitching, and it can be true that the timing is off,” she says. “I see that all the time as CEO—that I hold two things to be true. Reflecting on Growth and Embracing New Opportunities Two years ago, I took a leap of faith by returning to Corporate America via 13+ years from the Department of Defense. I placed my own company on hold for this opportunity, a decision I embraced wholeheartedly. Over these 2+ years, I've gained invaluable experiences in my professional career, not without certain sacrifices from the [tech] startup world. The data is in: Return-to-office mandates are not worth the talent risks. A couple of nuggets: - High-performers, women and millennials, three groups that prize flexibility, are the biggest flight risks. - High-performers may feel especially resentful about mandates, particularly if they maintained performance or over-delivered during the pandemic.
