What are the benefits and challenges of working with an executive search firm as a coach or a coachee?
Leadership is a journey, not a destination. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of our work- the little tiffs getting on our nerves or this quarter's KPIs. While these things can be important, if we get stuck in the immediate and ignore the long-term impact of our behaviors, we may one day look up and find ourselves on a path we hadn't meant to take, heading toward a goal we never really wanted to achieve. Coaching mitigates that risk by providing guidance on your journey. By balancing discussions between your day-to-day and long-term needs, a coach offers an objective perspective and tools to help you identify your goal and the path to get there - as well as someone who can hold you accountable for taking the next step forward.

How can you leverage your soft skills to network and collaborate effectively?
Think about what makes you, you-- and celebrate that! Don't try to squeeze into an uncomfortable box just because that's what you think 'good' looks like. Lean into your quirks and characteristics. Some of the most successful networkers I've met are those who "hate networking", instead viewing it as an opportunity to build new and hopefully lasting relationships. They forget to 'act like a professional' in a networking environment and instead show up as a best - perhaps nicely dressed - version of themselves.

How can you leverage your soft skills to network and collaborate effectively?
Remember that strengths and gaps may also be situational. Consider your desired career path. Who are you likely to meet? Where will you be meeting them? Who are the leaders in your field, and what kind of soft skills are they known for? Self-awareness is the foundation to soft skill development- so lean in and have an open mind! When asking others for their perspectives, remember that feedback is a gift. This is a chance to learn about and refine the best resource that you have in your toolbox- you.
