“I have known Kim for years as a Diversity and Inclusion professional in the Boston area. She was a terrific leader of the NEHRA D&I group for many years and so when we had the opportunity to partner together on a project for a client, I immediately said yes. It was a real pleasure to work with Kim both designing the content for a three part training program as well as presenting with her. She has extensive knowledge in the diversity recruiting space and the client loved what we were able to provide them. ”

What do you do if your collaborative team lacks diverse perspectives?
In my experience, the most effective approach to prevent groupthink—my interpretation of this question—is to be intentional. Establish team norms that ensure everyone’s voice is heard. Occasionally, consider examining the rotation of voices, taking into account power dynamics. Additionally, seek input from external perspectives—individuals with diverse experiences or alternative viewpoints. Leveraging multiple tools can help address gaps you’re aware of and even those that might escape notice.

What do you do if you're nervous about a job interview?
The most crucial advice I offer to interview candidates is to prepare thoroughly and take no chances. For virtual interviews, such as those conducted over Zoom, ensure you have a hotspot as a backup, your notes are organized, and you’ve prepared insightful questions beyond the information on the company’s website. Wear clothes that fit well to avoid discomfort and eliminate any potential distractions from your environment to maintain focus. It’s natural to feel nervous but trust in your expertise and practice using structured interview techniques like the STAR method to ensure you provide comprehensive answers. By doing this, you’ll quickly adapt to the interview setting and present the best version of yourself.
