“I just wanted to make it public, if possible that thanks to Julie Potter, I have enjoyed a position that has fully engaged me on every level professionally. She connected me with opportunities around every corner and enabled me to be in the position where I am today where I have never had so much responsibility that actually matches my skills set, amazing work relationships in a great business that I wouldn't have anything to do with but through her, and incentive to give my contracting company (Revature) the best of my efforts. I think Julie every day for her patience and forthrightness. She was always very real and honest with me and that is a beyond rare trait that not only, I'm sure, has catapulted her but inspired and moved me into the great position I am in. She was always encouraging and personable, yet honest and direct during every phase of my relationship with Revature and her. Thank you so much Julie. I hope other people find their opportunities via a relationship with you and I hope peers in your position can see the method by which you bring value to your role and lives of people around you. ”

Understanding the Architecture Features in Cloud Computing Models Cloud computing has revolutionized the way businesses manage and deploy their IT resources. The image provides a clear comparison of the responsibilities in different cloud computing models: On-Premises, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Each model offers varying levels of management and control, which can significantly impact how a business operates its IT infrastructure. 1 - On-Premises In an on-premises setup, the organization has complete control over all components. This includes: - Applications - Data - Runtime - Middleware - Operating System - Virtualization - Servers - Storage - Networking Here, the organization manages every layer of the stack, from physical hardware to applications. This model offers the highest level of customization and control but also requires significant maintenance, updates, and security resources. 2 - Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) IaaS provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. With IaaS, the cloud provider manages the physical aspects of the infrastructure: - Virtualization - Servers - Storage - Networking The organization is responsible for managing: - Applications - Data - Runtime - Middleware - Operating System IaaS is ideal for businesses that want to maintain control over their applications and operating systems but do not want to handle the underlying hardware. This model offers flexibility and scalability while reducing the need for physical infrastructure management. 3 - Platform as a Service (PaaS) PaaS offers a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without dealing with the underlying infrastructure. The cloud provider manages: - Runtime - Middleware - Operating System -Virtualization - Servers - Storage - Networking The organization is responsible for: - Applications - Data PaaS is suitable for developers who want to focus on coding and deploying applications without worrying about hardware or software updates, patching, or other maintenance tasks. 4 - Software as a Service (SaaS) SaaS delivers software applications over the internet, on a subscription basis. In this model, the cloud provider manages everything: - Applications - Data - Runtime - Middleware - Operating System - Virtualization - Servers - Storage - Networking The organization simply uses the application. SaaS is perfect for businesses that want to use software without worrying about installation, maintenance, or updates. It offers the least control but the highest ease of use. Understanding these differences is crucial for organizations to make informed decisions about their IT strategy, balancing control, flexibility, and resource allocation. The choice between these models will depend on the specific needs and capabilities of the business, including factors like budget, technical expertise, and scalability requirements. Credit: bmc.com

DAILY RECRUITMENT DOSE: Navigating the Intricacies of IT Contractor Classification: W-2 vs. 1099 Understanding the nuances between W-2 and 1099 contractor classification is integral for any IT staffing professional. The right classification impacts many factors, including taxes, job security, and benefits. Here are some distinctions to help you differentiate: **W-2 Employees:** W-2 employees work under an employer's direct supervision and receive a W-2 form for tax purposes. They are entitled to employee benefits and have taxes withheld from their paychecks by the employer. Because these employees work within a predetermined schedule set by the employer, they offer more hands-on control for the employer. **1099 Contractors:** 1099 contractors are independent professionals who control when and how they complete their work. They receive a 1099 form for tax purposes and are responsible for their own taxes. As they are not technically employees, they do not receive company benefits such as sick pay or health insurance but may enjoy increased flexibility and autonomy. **Understanding and Applying the Distinction:** Properly classifying workers is a legal obligation, with misclassification resulting in potential legal and financial penalties. It’s essential to be clear about the professional relationship from the outset, outlining responsibilities, payment terms, and any other expectations. Remember, the nature of work and the control over how the work is accomplished usually dictate the classification, not the preference of either party. Consider the overarching relationship between the IT professional and your organization before making your decision. Making informed decisions about contractor classification can not only ensure compliance with laws but also improve job satisfaction and productivity. #ITRecruitment #HRCompliance #W2vs1099 #ContractorClassification #StaffingProfessional Note: This post is intended to provide an overview; always consult a professional for advice related to your specific situation.
