“Jordan has solved one of the biggest challenges and pains for me personally, and for BlueBridge: our bookkeeping and accounting function. Jordan deeply understands startups and small businesses and has the perfect balance of flexibility, integrity, and expertise in the accounting function. Jordan is an amazingly quick learner, takes initiative, is punctual, and simply shines in what he does. I would fully recommend Jordan to any startup and small business as they would be lucky to have him.”

How can you screen job candidates to ensure they fit your organization?
Mid-way through our interview process, we ask candidates to create a video recording their responses to a few select questions. This allows us to see their enthusiasm, creativity, and confidence. We are a video platform, so it’s critical to us that our team is comfortable being on camera and leading by example when working with our clients. Having candidates record videos with a time limit helps make this interview stage more efficient for our team than a live video interview.

How can you command attention with a strong stage presence?
I think vulnerability is key here. Share relevant personal stories that show that you are “human,” but that you are confident enough in who you are and the message you have to offer the audience. Vulnerability makes you more approachable, more believable, and more relatable.

How can entrepreneurs develop strong leadership skills?
When you know that you’ve made a mistake, be the first to own up to it. Don’t wait and hope that no one notices, or that they’ll get over it. Acknowledging your own mistakes demonstrates self-awareness and humility that are critical in building trust with your team. Same thing if you’ve done something that upset someone - don’t wait for them to bring feedback to you. If you only attempt to show empathy after you’ve been given feedback, it may seem obligatory. If you initiate, your empathy will no doubt be taken as more genuine.
