Last week I started my 2 part series of posts about LOA - Level of Accuracy. Today I want to share more details of actual levels and their differences. The Level of Accuracy is the upper and lower limit of the deviation of the modeled object from the point cloud. The client is the one who chooses the level of accuracy. The higher the LOA, the smaller the limit of accuracy will be. The LOA structure consists of five levels, beginning with LOA10 and ending with LOA50. This two-digit series of "ten" is designed to make a difference from the five-digit series of "one hundred" LODs, thus avoiding potential confusion. 🔴LOA 10 - 5 сm - … -refers to the approximate dimension; 🔴LOA 20 - 15 mm - 5 сm- refers to the general dimension; 🔴LOA 30 - 5 mm - 15 mm- refers to the precise dimension; 🔴LOA 40 - 1 mm - 5 mm- refers to the detailed dimension; 🔴LOA 50 - 0 mm - 1 mm- refers to the fabrication level dimensions. The precise explanation is visible on the post image, where you can find Measured points, the Represented surface of an object, and the True surface of an object. In general, both LOA and LOD are used for a similar purpose - to deliver a successful project, without rework, minimizing errors, with great cost-saving results, but LOA also brings a necessary precision in various elements. 2030 Commitment Challenge For the 14th consecutive year, SmithGroup measured the energy use of the buildings we designed and reported our progress to the AIA as part of the 2030 commitment. On average, our designs achieved a 57.2% reduction in energy – our best result ever. Last year, we designed over 665,000 SF of buildings that met the 2030 challenge target of 80% better than average. From the data we collected, SmithGroup’s 2023 portfolio saved around 303,000 MT CO2e/year over the 2030 baseline. That’s the equivalent to the carbon that would be sequestered by 353,000 acres of US forest in one year. #SmithGroup #DesignaBetterFuture

The challenges faced in the field of architecture are undeniable. The pressure from competition, clients, economic setbacks, workplace culture, negativity, toxicity, and political situations worldwide can make the profession incredibly demanding.
