About
My experience and expertise is mainly in the field of mental health, more recently with an emphasis on youth mental health practices and contemplative work. Mental health is a very broad field that includes knowledge and interests around: mental health intervention in institutional and community settings; processes of marginalization, stigmatization and discrimination; and issues linked to the reproduction of power relations.
I have clinical experience working with children, young adults and adults, and their families living with mental health problems and psychosocial distress in hospital settings and in the community. Most notably I have completed clinical training at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute where I also worked for the majority of my social work career.
I teach mental health policy + practice and social work ethics from a strengths-based and feminist care perspective. Since 2020, I have been developing and integrating contemplative practices (ie. exercises that attend to critical introspection, identity construction, present moment attentiveness through mindfulness, art, poetry, and movement) into my pedagogy and research.
I am a membre of the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ) and the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE). I am a regular researcher at the Équipe de recherche et d'action en santé mentale et culture, the CREMIS Research Centre and the Chaire-réseau de recherche sur la jeunesse team. Broadly, my research focuses on understanding how social work practice can continuously question itself to lead the way in social change.

A critical constructivist exploration of relationships and practices in an intensive community based mental health team. Using qualitative, ethnographic methods this study seeks to understand how recovery-oriented practice is accomplished as well as explore the meaning of recovery for participants. Results offer implications for understanding participants' relationship with madness as well as the role that relationship-based practice can play in accomplishing a recovery orientation in mental health care and service. -
