Q: I accidentally put 5W-30 #oil in my #car when it takes 5W-20. Can I #drive it until the next oil change interval without problems? A: I’m an #engineer who worked for #Petronas back in 2016 in the #lubricants division. One thing I can tell you is that 99.9% of the population (including #mechanics) do not know lubricants. Everyone has guessed. My first #advice is: Don’t trust other people’s guesses. My division had one of the 5 main #labs of the company around the world. You could check every single thing related to the #fluids we produced. Now going back to your question: If you put a 5W-30 instead of a 5W-20, you won’t notice anything instantly, but it will speed up the #wear and #tear of the #engine system. It will also #overload the oil #pump, as it was designed to work with the 5W-20 oil. The pump will have to work around 40% more to move the oil around. As I said, you wouldn’t see anything #catastrophic happening, but it’s far from ideal. It’s like #inflation. If you print tons of #money now, you will start to see the consequences in a few years and you might not be able to tell where the problem started. If this was my car, I would replace the oil, especially if you like the car. Just a few more things for interested people. If your car asks for 5W-20 and you get 0W-20, this is completely fine, as the number before the W refers to the #viscosity of the oil before the engine heats up. The lower the number, the less viscosity is, and therefore, the quicker the oil will fill all the necessary areas in the engine, reducing the #friction. But this will be a more #expensive oil. The other thing is that at the time, I had a #Honda Civic 2008 and used it as an #experiment to see if I needed to change the oil like the #manufacturer said (every 10k km or 1 year). For every oil change, I would collect the oil and take it to the #lab to #analyze it. The oil is like the #blood of the car. The tests show a range of important information such as if the oil still maintains its original characteristics based on a large number of parameters and detection of small #metal particles coming from the engine. I started testing it at 10,000km. The car was already 8 years old. The oil was still in spec and no metal particles were detected. Tested again at 12,500. Same result. Tested again at 15,000. The oil went to the lower range of the acceptable characteristics but was still within spec. With 17,500 the oil finally showed characteristics of an oil that needed to be changed but was still in working condition. Keep in mind that lots of factors can influence these results, especially the car brand and its engine system quality. #Japanese cars tend to be a lot more #reliable. The psalmist began this psalm with a call to praise God. Then he proceeded to give reasons why God is to be praised. The first and foremost reason he gave for praising God is that “the word of the LORD is right”. God’s Word is absolutely right according to God’s own perfect rule of right. If anyone were to say that the Word of the LORD is not right, then he is making God a liar. According to God’s own perfect standard, His Word is right in all that it says. Whatever God says is right, that is, true. All of His words are absolutely trustworthy. Being infinitely wise, God cannot have uttered any mistake. All the words, laws, promises, counsels, warnings, rebukes, corrections, instructions and even judgments of God in the Bible are perfectly true and just. It is worthy of universal belief and should, therefore, be a reason for praise. The fact that God says a thing is itself irrefutable, not to mention the highest, proof that it is true. The psalmist also asserted that “all his works are done in truth.” All the works of God are according to His truth. God’s providential works are according to His Word. He neither does nor says anything contrary to what He has already revealed in His Word. There is no lie in God’s Word; He never deceives anyone either. There is also no fraud in what God has revealed in His Word and in His works of providence. Believing and obeying God’s Word will keep us from all false ways. In Deuteronomy 32:4, it is said concerning God, “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” It is God’s nature to be full of truth in all that He says and does. He will never mislead us. He will never lead us along the false way. We serve the living and true God! God’s Word and works are totally dependable. Because all His words and works are full of truth, we can always depend on Him; He can be thoroughly trusted. You have to be fluid when negotiating. The truth to the matter is that no matter how much research you do, or how much you prepare, you will never have a clear picture of what the other side wants or are willing to negotiate for. Always be willing to reasses and reestablish your BATNA (Best Alternative To A Negotiated Agreement). You will find that there were interests and concessions that you hadn’t even considered but perhaps are willing to accept under the right circumstances. No matter how long it lives, the Greatest Lion will eventually die miserably. That's the #world! They may die young from injuries they sustained while defending their Pride. They may die old, enfeebled by age. At their Peak, they rule, chase other animals, catch, devour, gulp and leave their crumbs for hyenas. But age comes fast… 🟠The old Lion can't hunt, can't kill or defend itself. 🟠It roams and roars until it runs out of luck. 🟠It will be cornered by the hyenas, nibbled at and eaten alive by them. 🟠They won't even let it die before it is dismembered. #Life is short. #Power is ephemeral. I have seen it in lions. I have seen it in old people. Everyone who lives long enough will become very vulnerable at some point. 🔴Therefore, let us be humble. The old guy is 73. I’ve been working in Construction in NYC since I was 12. —I have built in Civil, Electrical and Interior rough trades. —I can honestly say that I have built in all five boroughs. —I own www.aecnr.com. the Top level of Recruiters —I can tell you that “I am the only human alive that lost friends in the original Twin Tower Bombing and at 9/11”. —I have “ skin in the game in NY”. —I’ve got the scars from an electrical accident; 12 eye operations from 9/11; the framers shoulder and lung dust, etc. I would do it again. The reason for the diatribe is the “expert through distance“ joke in Recruiting. Recruiters from across the pond know NY? I know NY—the players, the candidates, the DOT departments, the developers, et al. In the last three months I have witnessed what I call the “Voices from the UK” send great NY candidates to jobs—to their Doom. It’s sad to trade on peoples’ misfortune in a time of recession. The candidates are sent to jobs to fail. Sending people on self destruct missions but cashing a big check to jobs: —They don’t fit —They aren’t told the truth about the position —They aren’t told the truth about the company I have specific examples. You can call me. Why? Because they are charging 30% of the person’s salary as their fee. They will do or say anything to make their coin. Today's Sunday sermon: Thoughts on debt. One of my favorite stories in scripture is about a group of people who had been captured and enslaved by a rival group. They had tried fighting their way out several times but suffered heavy losses and were driven back. They were desperate. Paraphrasing a bit, we read: Now all the study of the people was to deliver themselves out of the hands of their enemies and from bondage. I love that. They got united, and they focused. By putting all of their mental, physical, and spiritual energy (prayer) toward the problem they were soon able to identify a solution and escape. In what ways are we in bondage today? Certainly when we do something wrong, or hurt someone we love, we feel the weight of that. Another one I think about a lot is debt. We are counseled in scripture to pay our debts quickly. Yet my LinkedIn feed is full of stories of people leveraging all they can in an effort to quickly build wealth. I can understand the reasoning. We just have to remember a couple of things: "Oh be wise. What can I say more?" (Another favorite scripture.) And this great quote from J. Reuben Clark, Jr: "Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies; it never goes to the hospital; it works on Sundays and holidays; it never takes a vacation; it never visits nor travels . . . it has no love, no sympathy; it is as hard and soulless as a granite cliff. Once in debt, interest is your companion every minute of the day and night; you cannot shun it or slip away from it; you cannot dismiss it; it yields neither to entreaties, demands nor orders; and whenever you get in its way or cross its course or fail to meet its demands, it crushes you." What a sobering thought! I met a car salesman the other day who as part of his pitch told me that he had never had a car payment of less than $1,200, and the one he was offering was only $600 - what a steal! Yes, there are situations where it makes sense, at least temporarily to go into debt. Just remember: Debt is bondage. It is indentured servitude wrapped in the promise of low monthly payments. Proceed with caution.

Climbing the Ladder to Success I started working full time at age 18, straight out of high school. I never got to go to college. I was told to "climb the ladder" but as a young woman, that ladder had many rungs placed too closely together and it took many years to climb. But climb, I did. In the late 80's and early 90's, to be clear, "climbing the ladder" also included being harassed by higher-ups, being expected to wear short skirts and heels to work and being treated like an object, being solicited and slapped when walking through office hallways. It was tolerated and brushed off as "how the guys were". I could expect significant bonuses by "snuggling up" with certain salesmen but that was not my style. I changed jobs and the ladder climbing continued. Ten years later I had my child and was told if I didn't come straight back after 4 weeks, my job was in jeopardy and they would move on without me. I decided to spend 4 years home raising my child instead. When I re-entered the work force it was like starting all over but with many years experience I thought I would have a leg-up. How wrong I was! Back to the bottom, I stood. And climb, I did. For many years I climbed from receptionist to assistant, to coordinator, to trainer... I trained Project Managers who were 20 years my junior, making twice my salary. But I continued to climb. I was turned down for a position once because I didn't have a college degree but could work circles around the other candidates. The hiring manager had "his hands tied". They hired someone straight out of college who had no practical experience, who never had to "climb". That was humiliating. I changed jobs again and again and jumped the ladder rungs many times until I landed where I am now. 37 years of hard work, overcoming obstacles and challenges. It has not been easy but I do love my job and where I work. I am respected in my field and love my customers. Being a woman in the workforce is not as easy as we make it look. Always smiling and getting work done "in record time". It's part of the game that we have to play. But being on a ladder rung that I can see how far I've climbed is a great feeling. I'm not sure when I'll feel successful but I do feel accomplished. How has your climb been going?
