All mortgage lenders generate income through very similar activities, generally related to originating, servicing or trading in mortgage loan products. BPM and EAI offer to bring significant, real and measurable benefits to the mortgage banking space, at a time when many industry players face increasing competitive pressures. All mortgage lenders generate income through very similar activities, generally related to originating, servicing or trading in mortgage loan products. The unique way in which an individual company performs these activities is the foundation of its competitive advantage. All lenders are searching for ways to generate and process more loans in less time and at lower costs.
Unfortunately there is no “silver bullet” solution to the complex challenges faced by the industry. Instead, achieving real and lasting competitive advantage will require commitment and buy-in from senior management and cooperation by several departments working together. The good news is that there are solutions available to address the issues confronting the mortgage industry. BPM can bring about these increases in efficiency but to be effective, it requires a solid business integration strategy as an enabling foundation. By integrating the systems and applications used along the mortgage value chain from prospecting to servicing or disposition, and subsequently optimizing the process steps, lenders can significantly improve efficiency. The resulting benefits include shorter cycle time, reduced costs, improved quality and customer satisfaction. In fact, one need only look as far as other financial services sectors to see the order of magnitude improvements that can be achieved by implementing EAI and BPM concepts and technologies. -
