Charasay Powell

This is a partnership between Central Penn College and various employers across the region aiming to identify ways to help students to transition to the workforce. Employers offer feedback regarding ways the College can better support students in learning soft skills needed in the workplace and ways employers can support students and new graduates. Additionally, Council members agree to volunteer time or expertise for the benefit of Central Penn College students and graduates.

Our local NAACP Branch supports and implements national initiatives on a local level. Some of the ways our Executive Board serves the community include: assisting citizens with employment discrimination concerns and assisting them in initiating relevant follow-up actions (e.g. referring them to legal counsel); providing financial literacy and related workshops at schools and in the community; hosting Town Hall meetings on community concerns; encouraging voter registration and engagement;… Show more

I was selected to be a Community Ambassador and Beta Tester and designated as a Bronze MVM (Most Valuable Member) for actively sharing feedback and supporting other Direct Employers members from different organizations.

I was a member of the Fire Chief Search Committee for Mayor Danene Sorace, City of Lancaster, PA. Responsibilities included resume screening and evaluation, selection of candidates in interview slate, conducting first-round candidate interviews, and selecting final candidates for Mayor Sorace's consideration.

I have used my knowledge and expertise to coach, mentor, and consult small businesses owners through the initial start-up/launch phase of their businesses. I have supported them in areas including human resources, starting LLCs, administrative structure and processes, identifying resources and vendors, and social media management. I have also created documents such as business plans, launch schedules, company letterhead, and operations manuals. Additionally, I have created blogs and websites… Show more

Businesses I have helped over the years include: a web-based platform, a dance school, two security companies (one focused on events, the other on retail), and an upcoming family-oriented music production facility. I also created and formed an Investment Club in the early 90's, including recruiting members, forming a legal structure, and identifying leadership. Show less

The Business Administration Advisory Committee is a group of business professionals representing various roles and industries who provide insight, guidance, and support to those developing and teaching the business administration curriculum to students at Thaddeus Stevens College, which is consistently among the top 2-year colleges/trade schools in PA.
