Brian Thomas has provided great leadership in the field of information technology management, one of the major educational thrusts of the American College of Healthcare Trustees.

The ACHT Semmelweis Award is named after Ignaz Semmelweis, a 19th Century physician who became an advocate for antiseptic technique after identifying that the incidence of childbed fever was greatly reduced by handwashing, saving countless mothers’ lives. It is particularly appropriate that the American College of Healthcare Trustees name this leadership award after Semmelweis now that the health care community is making a major effort to eliminate preventable complications.
