Business Development leaders in mid-cap and large-cap BioPharma organizations follow peculiar career pathways.   Interestingly, the vast majority do not make a lateral move to a peer BioPharma organization. The most common next step is transitioning into a CEO, GM or VC role.   Most leaders are internal promotes who have held a more junior BD role within the organization. External hires often come from the Financial Services world.   Understanding typical C-Suite career pathways can help CEOs and People Officers optimize their succession plans and hiring strategies.

This real–world study evaluating the effectiveness of nirsevimab within 3 months of nationwide implementation indicated that nirsevimab prophylaxis was effective against RSV-associated bronchiolitis leading to hospitalization among infants younger than 12 months of age, including those with severe cases that led to PICU admission and ventilatory support.

The deal between AbbVie and Gilgamesh is one of the most important and pervasive pharmaceutical deals of the last decade. The reason is simple. Institutional and Retail investors have typically found the task of valuing biotechnology companies, especially those developing proprietary neuropsychiatric medicines within myriad mental health disorders, an arduous one. AbbVie, that watched the last of its HUMIRA patents expire in 2023, has had its BD team in overdrive for the last 6 months - US$10.1B for ImmunoGen in Nov 2023, US$8.7B for Cerevel Therapeutics in Dec 2023 and now, AbbVie has become the first global pharmaceutical company to place a "real" value on the potential of neuroplasticity in treating neuropsychiatric conditions. We are pleased to announce presentations of four of our clinical studies at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual congress at Chicago. Our presentations this year include data of investigational drugs olverembatinib in patients with SDH deficient gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), an indication that currently has no effective treatment; lisaftoclax in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and in patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), as well as those of APG-2449 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We remain committed to bring novel and effective therapies for patients with cancers. DEVELOPMENT MEETS REAL WORLD - by implementing robust tests that reliably determine FGFR alteration status in critical cancer samples being classified as "invalid" by other methods. Happy to announce to have validated the UroTyper FGFR test on the #MODAPLEX platform that RESCUES 80% OF OTHERWISE INVALID bladder cancer biopsy samples (TURB) by other test systems. This has the potential to make the difference for local testing of FGFR in REAL WORLD and achieving molecular readiness. New targeted therapies are finally coming to bladder cancer patients. Since the tremendous improvements in precision medicine, we know that targeted therapies can only be successful if reliable tests are carried out to select the patients benefitting the most without missing patients due to demanding sample requirements becoming apparent in Real Word. The results of the THOR3 study, as presented at ESMO 2023, have shown the benefit of stratifying patients according to their FGFR3 mutation and FGFR2/3 gene fusion status. At #STRATIFYER we are prepared to spearhead high-quality and reliable molecular FGFR testing as part of the Bladder BRIDGister molecular Real World Registry, which had beeen limited to previous shortages of FGFR testing possibilities.   In collaboration with #BIOTYPE, we employ #MODAPLEX to detect actionable FGFR mutations and gene fusions in bladder cancer tumor samples. The relevant FGFR mutations and gene fusions are measured simultaneously in an integrated and automated 4-hour PCR-based workflow using the MODAPLEX platform. The MODAPLEX FGFR panel will enable reliable molecular stratification of bladder cancer patients, supported by an automated data analysis. The #radiopharmaceutical sector is booming with significant #investments and deal-making activity. In the past two years alone 12 private radiopharmaceutical companies have raised nearly $1.3 billion in #venturefunding. Notable moves that highlight the sector's potential include AstraZeneca's $2.1 billion acquisition of Fusion Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb's $4.1 billion acquisition of Rayze Bio. Radioactive #isotopes offer a more targeted treatment and therefore potentially reduced side effects, creating an opportunity to revolutionize the way we treat #cancer. With this influx of venture funding, major #acquisitions, and promising #clinicaltrialresults, the radiopharmaceutical sector holds immense potential for #cancerpatients across a number of critical indications.
