How can you improve your decision-making skills when problem-solving?
I find it really handy to consider every analysis and recommendation as if you were the CEO of the company. Even if you're not :) Pretend you are. It forces you to consider the question and problem space more thoroughly. It makes you really own the idea of making the decision and the consequences of doing so. This results in you turning over more stones as a part of the analysis - asking more questions, involving more stakeholders, and really thinking through your ultimate recommendation.

How can you give a confident and engaging research presentation?
One of the most useful pieces of advice someone gave me, was to remind me to be authentic in everything I present. Say what you believe. Don't say what you think or expect others to hear. Again, say what you believe. I find that often times nerves and pressure comes from trying to do something somebody else's way. Or trying to say something in a way that others expect you to. But if you say what you believe and say it how you want to, it takes a lot of the pressure off. And it resonates more with folks!

What are the best ways to visually show patterns in your data?
I personally often prefer to receive information in table format, with key areas highlighted. I think often folks lean to heavily on visualizations. Often times a table outperforms a bunch of charts! How can you make sure your BI skills are recognized by your new employer?
Learning how to use specific tools is important. Being able to build robust dashboards and analysis certainly helps. However in my experience the things that most differentiates GREAT folks is their actual understanding of the business and their stakeholders. Great BI folks know why what they're building matters. They understand how the metrics they're being asked to share makes a difference to their stakeholders, and how it moves the business. So in addition to learning tools, make sure you take time to study your business. Spend time with your stakeholders to learn how they run their team, what their priorities are, and how they think. From there, you'll build better dashboards.
