“In 2024 I worked with Amy to revamp my UX portfolio and resume. I've noticed that expectations for portfolios rapidly change, and as someone who had been out of the job market for 5 years, my portfolio structure was outdated. I was at a loss for how to rework it and felt like I was spinning my wheels. Amy gave me plenty of structured, actionable insights into presenting the same projects with a better foot forward. Her written resources were also extensive. I highly recommend Amy to anyone on the job hunt looking to motivate themselves, make the best use of their time applying, and develop new confidence in their craft.”

How do you measure the impact of your social media writing on your brand awareness and reputation?
Performance metrics are one way of measuring the success of your content, but they only tell part of the story. Is your goal to increase followers and connections, and inspire and educate people? Or are you trying to land a new job, get more clients for your business, recruit candidates to fill a position, sell more products, be invited to do a keynote talk at a conference, or build a helpful and supportive community of professionals? Social media metrics are just a means to an end. Identify specific, meaningful outcomes to aim for and align your content activities accordingly.

Volunteer, Birdathon and Christmas Bird Count
Portland Audubon
- Present 3 years
Environment
The annual Portland Audubon Birdathon raises money for the protection of wildlife and habitats across the Oregon landscape. Over the past three years, I have raised a total of $2060.
The Christmas Bird Count is a citizen science program of the National Audubon Society that began in 1900. Each December and January, CBC volunteers identify and count birds in North America to provide insight into the health and status of bird populations. -

Anthropologizing (personal/professional blog, 2011-2021)
I started Anthropologizing after I finished grad school in 2011 because I wanted a place to talk about all things anthropology and my evolving understanding of how to apply it in the real world.” I write about design and user experience, business, applied anthropology, organizational culture, advocacy, jobs and careers, and American culture and society.
