What are the most effective ways to boost team morale in Engineering Design?
When my engineering design projects get too stressful, I like to remove myself from the work a bit by pretending i’m playing a video game. I am just like anyone else playing this video game. I play the character of an engineer with certain skills. My teammates are other players with their own special sets of skills. We can improve those skills by completing levels of the project. Some levels are harder than others. Some levels feel impossible. Some levels I can’t complete unless I have someone else help me. At the end of the day, the video game should not consume your mind. You can shut off the game and start again tomorrow. That’s how I try to keep projects fun for myself and my teammates.

What are the most effective ways to boost team morale in Engineering Design?
As in any project, do not work your team or teammates to the point to where their health is being jeopardized. At the end of the day, everyone should go home healthy, happy, and ready to start again the next day. Designers rely on their creativity. Creativity can be born from many feelings. However, creativity born from love and happiness is, what I believe, will result in ethical, sustainable, and humanitarian engineering design solutions.

What are the most effective ways to boost team morale in Engineering Design?
Seeking perspectives from others will allow the project to grow. If you take a second and look around at your team, I believe it is important to think about these questions: - Who are we building/ designing this project for? Does our team reflect that? - Are our shared experiences limiting our ability to think outside of the box? - Has our team’s communications become an echo-chamber because we all think the same way for whatever reason? Not everyone likes or values diversity. This fact has led to engineering design solutions that have harmed communities they are intended for but were not thought of or represented during the design process.

What are the most effective ways to boost team morale in Engineering Design?
Recognizing the work of others is a key to maintaining and fostering improvement in engineering design. Ways that I really enjoy recognizing achievements is by writing to my mentors and teammates at the end of projects. It is never a bad idea to take the time to say “thank you” and let people know that their hard work was seen, heard, and remembered. Ultimately, I will always agree with Maya Angelou who said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” (This is actually one of my favorite quotes of all time). Make others feel good about their work and good work will be done.

Created in collaboration with Lee Ortiz, Sebastian Alvalos, Alyssa Li Herevia, and Ferris Carrillo for SAY Si’s HIVE New Media 2018 Summer Game Jam. Love Lies Here is a plot based adventure game programmed in Unity.
Game Description:
Murder mystery revolving around Lorelei, our unreliable and emotionally damaged main character, and her attempts to figure out who killed her friend Ernaline. The game takes place within Ernaline's house after Lorelei wakes up to find her dead.

MITES Engineering Design Robot: CHOPSTICKZ

As a part of the Engineering Design course at MITES, Abigail joined a team with three other MITES students to design and manufacture a robot to compete in a robotics competition on a flat field. Through their relentless work on CHOPSTICKZ, named after the robot’s usage of two incisors, Abigail and her three teammates were awarded with the MITES Engineering Design Teamwork Award.

Goodnight Charlie is a radio drama following ex government worker, Charlie, and his wife, Aspen, who are on the run from their previous lives and identities. After arriving at a desolate motel, Charlie is mysteriously confronted about his wife’s suspicious behaviors. Origins of La Llorona is a premiere animation, exploring the local legend La Llorona and her origins. The project was stylistically inspired by German artist Lotte Reiniger and the works of American silhouettist Kara Walker. After conducting extensive research we found that the woman who haunts the nightmares of many San…
