LinkedIn Events overview

LinkedIn Events are an easy way to create and join professional events such as meetups, online workshops, seminars, and more. LinkedIn members can find and join communities, grow their business, network with others, and learn new skills.

The following types of roles are available for events:

  • Organizer – The host of the event is the organizer. They create the event, decide the details, invite attendees, and add one or more speakers. The organizer can either be an individual profile or a LinkedIn Page (if the organizer is a Page admin). The event organizer can’t be changed once the event has been created.

  • Attendee – A member who accepted an event invitation or joined an event.

There are two types of events. The type and format can't be changed once the event has been created.

  • In person events take place offline in a physical venue and are promoted on LinkedIn.

  • Online events can have three different formats:

    • Audio Events are real-time, audio-only conversations without video, screen sharing, or text chat. Attendees can join the speakers on stage making Audio events the most interactive event type. Audio event hosts can go live via LinkedIn without needing a third-party streaming tool. Audio events can be either spontaneous or scheduled, but we recommend scheduling the Audio event in advance to maximize attendance. Attendees can network during the event by minimizing the event window without exiting the event.
    • LinkedIn Live events are streamed on LinkedIn, with real-time conversations in the comments and a recording on your Page or profile. To create a live event, the organizer must have access to LinkedIn Live and to a third-party streaming tool. LinkedIn Live events can be either spontaneous or scheduled, but we recommend scheduling the event in advance to maximize attendance. Attendees can network during the event by minimizing the event window without exiting the event.
    • External events are hosted off LinkedIn and promoted on LinkedIn. The organizer must provide a link to an external broadcast location that attendees can use to join the event. We recommend using LinkedIn Live as it prevents attendees from dropping off as they switch platforms.

After creating an event, the organizer can manage the details at any time, and the attendees will be notified about the important changes. Both organizers and attendees can invite connections to attend an event, but only the organizer can withdraw an invitation or remove an attendee at any time.

After accepting an event invitation, attendees can access a list of LinkedIn members attending the event. This is a great place to start interacting with other attendees, by inviting them to connect.
