Scott Carruthers, Thanks for sharing. Sending hashed 1st-party 'user-provided data' is the best, not mandatory. Google Ads can process hashed data by itself. Although this EC Assist can help you, you might not always benefit unless you have deep knowledge of DataLayer & environments of conversion tracking. Because automatic EC doesn't always work. Manual EC collections sometimes depend on Page Loading... Knowing how to write custom JavaScript is the best for Conversion Tracking or EC or anything else...

4wThank you Scott Carruthers for sharing this valuable info. Currently I'm facing issues with EC. When I setup EC with automatic collection, it carries value. However, after defining variables with CSS selectors and employing DOM element, I get " " as in variables while testing with GTM. It might be due to Data layer, as I can understand. I will try it to get more clarity.
