About us
OUR MISSION YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. For more than a century, YWCA has helped women, girls and families in Nashville and Middle Tennessee build safer, more self-sufficient lives. In addition to operating the largest domestic violence shelter in Tennessee and a 24-hour-a-day crisis and information phone and text line, YWCA runs a Family Learning Center to help women and men earn their high school equivalency diploma by offering free HiSET classes and weekly tests. We mentor girls in numerous MNPS schools through our Girls Inc. program and suit women for the workplace through Dress for Success Nashville. Our AMEND Together initiative seeks to reduce all violence against women and girls by elevating the issue, engaging men, and educating boys. For more information, visit www.ywcanashville.com. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the 24-hour Crisis & Information Line toll-free at 1-800-334-4628 or text 615-983-5170 to get in touch with a trained counselor.

A powerful way to wrap up the week. Thank you to our community partners and YWCA leadership who attended.
Stephen Watts left the audience wanting more at YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee ‘s 21-Day Racial Justice Challenge Debrief today! This could have easily been a 4 hour conference!🤣 I cannot name all of the community heroes sitting in that room! Tina L. Fox, MPS , Angela Evans Wynn, MBA , Benaias Esayeas and many more, sat with us to honor and discuss our experiences with the topics outlined in the challenge. I love it here.🫶 #ywcanashville #racialjusticechallenge #communityspeaks

You don't want to miss this! There's still time to join the conversation today at noon... #webinar #ywcanashville #transit
Access to transportation impacts every aspect of our lives, from our ability to get to work, seek healthcare, and educate our children. Racism in transportation destroyed communities – including the construction of the interstate highway system in the 1960s and 70s that targeted Black and poor neighborhoods. Today, many low-income individuals, immigrants, and people of color continue to live in communities with a lack of infrastructure that harms them physically and economically. Join YWCA on Wed., May 29 as we gather experts and leaders to discuss how we can create transportation systems that serve as catalysts for broader societal change, and foster inclusivity, justice, and empowerment for all. Huge thanks to #NissanFoundation, AllianceBernstein & The Harnisch Foundation for supporting this initiative. Register for this free webinar on our website or this link: https://bit.ly/3QGFeFI
