Delivering the next generation of advanced nuclear energy technology.

About us

X-energy is delivering the next generation of carbon-free energy by reinventing nuclear power. We believe in leaving a cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren, while continuing to provide sufficient and affordable power to sustain growing populations around the world. That is why we have reinvented nuclear power, with a unique combination of proven technologies and new innovations, to meet our current and future needs. X-energy manufactures fuel that seals uranium particles in a protective coating, which makes meltdown impossible and retains the waste inside forever. We also design plants that unlock the fuel’s potential in a process that’s as clean as wind or solar. When combined, the result is reliable carbon-free baseload power, produced more safely and affordable than ever before and available anywhere, at any time.

Signing the ADVANCE Act into law is a major step forward for advanced reactors, aligning the regulatory framework with the urgency of deploying nuclear to meet growing demands for clean energy and industrial decarbonization. Nuclear energy is poised to play a leading role in powering the global economy today and well into the future. The administration and Congress – led by Senator Thomas R Carper, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and U.S. Representatives Jeff Duncan and Diana DeGette – are ensuring that America is positioned and equipped to fully harness the most promising technologies at this pivotal moment.

Last week, the X-energy team was pleased to host and participate in two events with U.S. Women in Nuclear (WIN), showcasing our efforts to bring the next generation of nuclear technology to the marketplace. We joined our ARDP partner Dow in hosting an event showcasing X-energy's industrial applications at Dow's Seadrift, Texas, manufacturing site, and also hosted DC-area WIN members at our Plant Support Center in Frederick, Maryland. Thank you, WIN, for the opportunity to bring a spotlight to our company and technology at the both of these events!

Congress created the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program to reestablish American leadership in a new generation of nuclear energy. Through the FY25 Energy and Water Appropriations bill, Chairman Fleischmann continues to recognize the urgent need to bring advanced reactors to the marketplace. This significant step addresses not only the growing energy demands in this country but also aligns with our national security and economic interests. We commend the Chairman and members of the subcommittee for their priority of this critical program.

One year ago, X-energy and Dow embarked on a groundbreaking journey to bring zero-carbon emissions power to Dow's Seadrift, Texas manufacturing facility. We're proud to mark this initial milestone and the progress we've made since the announcement last year. Together, we are on the path to realizing the first grid-scale SMR in Texas and the first nuclear-powered industrial site. Read more about A Year of Progress at Seadrift: https://lnkd.in/e5pV-vtK

Dow CEO Jim Fitterling joined CNBC's Squawk on the Street, highlighting the company's partnership with X-energy at its Seadrift, Texas, facility and its view of advanced nuclear technology's significant role in meeting zero-carbon energy needs. "The beauty of small modular reactors is the sensitive construction on the nuclear core happens in a facility which is well monitored, and the quality control and documentation can be well monitored. The other thing is, it's an inherently safe technology, and it takes a much smaller footprint than a big one-gigawatt reactor. So, I can put four 80-megawatt reactors on a 20-acre site right beside the Seadrift facility, and all the power and steam that I need will be zero carbon emissions."
