About us

Our Family Witham Family Hotels was founded in 1987 by David J. Witham, an entrepreneur and businessman who built a hotel empire through hard work, loyalty to his employees and guests, and uncompromising quality standards. A lifelong New Englander, Witham had a gift for seeing potential, both in property and in people. Over the years he has invested substantially towards refurbishing hotels that did not meet his high standards, starting from scratch when necessary. He also fostered a team of employees who represent the gold standard in hospitality and customer service. Nearly 30 years after Witham Family Hotels was founded, Witham employees remain true to those values. In 2015, son David C. Witham assumed the leadership role in the company, and has continued to inspire the passion, skill and excellence of our loyal and tenured staff who epitomize the “Family” in Witham Family Hotels. This family extends to Witham’s many repeat guests, some of whom have been visiting our properties for more than two decades. Our Hotels Witham Family Hotels owns and operates 7 hotel properties along the coast of Maine, with headquarters in the beautiful Acadia National Park area. We’re proud to say our unique properties range from luxury resorts to budget-conscious accommodations, representing a variety of lodging options that meet every travel style. Though each of our hotels has its own unique personality when it comes to design, setting, and amenities, there is one constant: an unwavering commitment to excellence, from the cleanliness and comfort of our rooms to the customer service we provide our guests. We bring this promise to every aspect of the Witham Family Hotels experience, ensuring our guests can relax, enjoy, and leave feeling refreshed.

Last week marked a significant step forward in our commitment to safety and crisis preparedness. Our management teams, in collaboration with our local School Resource Officer and esteemed members of the school administration, engaged in a comprehensive half-day ALICE training session, expertly led by Mike Anders from Navigate360. ALICE Training stands as a pioneering force in the United States for proactive, options-based training. Its core mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge and strategies needed for self-protection during active shooter scenarios or other severe emergencies. The training emphasizes adaptable response strategies through the ALICE protocol, tailored to individual needs and circumstances. The focus is on providing multiple options, recognizing that each situation is unique and demands a flexible approach. The invaluable insights gained from this training equip our team to respond more effectively in crisis situations. As a company that welcomes guests and values their safety and the safety of our staff above all, understanding and preparing for these scenarios is paramount. While we earnestly hope that such situations never arise, and continue to work towards preventing them, our team is now more equipped than ever to handle emergencies. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this vital training and remain dedicated to fostering a secure environment for everyone who steps through our doors.

In the off-season, with all its rest and winter projects - our team leans into learning and development with a series of Lunch & Learn sessions. This allows our team to delve into various topics and grow both as a company and as individuals. We strongly believe in the importance of continuous learning, and each team member is encouraged to suggest and share topics they are passionate about. This week, we had a captivating session on sustainability in the hospitality industry. Our team was fortunate to have Rebeccah, the General Manager of the Bar Harbor Villager Motel, share her valuable insights on sustainability. Her experience shed light on the efforts of our internal committee in fulfilling our sustainability commitments. Additionally, Rebeccah educated our staff on the crucial role we all play in promoting sustainability through our actions towards people, place, and profits. This session brought us closer as a team and equipped us for the upcoming season and future years to come. We are excited to continue our journey towards a sustainable future. Stay tuned for more updates on our Lunch & Learn series! #sustainabledevelopment #sustainablehospitality #learninganddevelopment #lunchandlearn

We're excited to share the heartwarming moments and contagious joy that unfolded at the 9th Annual Witham Family Hotels Charitable Christmas! 🌟 The ballroom buzzed with creativity as families came together to make cherished memories and festive keepsakes. From ornament decorating to snow globe making, craft stations were filled with laughter and messy fingers with over 1500+ crafts created by little hands. Guests indulged in the warmth of hot cocoa, savored s'mores, and enjoyed the crackling fires outside, where families met Santa's majestic reindeer up close. The cookie decorating studio was a hit! Bigger and better than ever, it provided a sweet adventure for little bakers, allowing them to decorate their own festive cookies to take home. And of course, the highlight of the day—kids met Santa and Mrs. Claus, sharing wishes and receiving special take-home printouts of their photos in festive frames! We want to express our gratitude to our incredible team of staff for the hours and weeks spent preparing for this wonderful event. It truly embodied the spirit of giving and community. <3 A special thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. Your generosity in bringing new, unwrapped toys for Maine Seacoast Mission’s Christmas Program or gently used coats for H.O.M.E. Inc. made a significant impact. We collected 139 coats, snow pants, mittens, hats, and scarves and over 150 toys! On top of that $1,083 was collected in donations to go directly to these non-profits!! The Witham Family Hotels Charitable Christmas was not just an event; it was a community celebration of warmth, laughter, and giving.
