Supporting and resourcing digital justice organising in Europe.

About us

Weaving Liberation is coordinating the implementation of 'A vision for digital justice organising in Europe'. This programme was designed over three years, by 30+ participants with experience working towards racial, social, environmental, and economic justice as well as digital rights organisations and funders. It sets out a series of ideas and activities to help bring to life and sustain a digital justice ecosystem that will organise towards anti-colonial and liberatory digital futures. You can read the full programme in various languages, or listen to it in English or Romani, here > https://weavingliberation.org/programme/ If you want to know more about our collaborative design process, you can read our reflections and learnings in the 'Blueprint' here > https://weavingliberation.org/resources/#blueprint Weaving Liberation is hosted within the Digital Freedom Fund.

Ahead of our launch *tomorrow* we want to introduce our programme - 'A vision for digital justice organising in Europe' - which is the product of a multi-year collective effort involving 30+ people. The first pillar of our programme sets out a vision for how collective, community-centred knowledge production will happen in the digital justice ecosystem. We see imagination as an integral part of liberation. 💡 ✊🏾 Organising solidarity is the focus of our second pillar. How do we ensure that communities primarily affected by technological harm set the agenda of digital justice work? How can we build solidarity practices amongst those with a shared interest in collective liberation? 🤜🏾 🤛🏾 The third pillar is centred on supporting and sustaining movements. We want to change the way resources are allocated in the ecosystem, create new roles and infrastructures to better support movements, and initiate internal decolonising processes in organisations in the field. ☘ 💗 Explore the full programme here: https://lnkd.in/e2r-WkSs

As we near our official launch on June 4th, we want to share our look back on the celebration / soft-launch we threw at the end of last year. We wanted to mark a milestone in our decolonising work - after two years of calls, strategising, consultations, post-it notes, love notes, poetry and play on video calls and in-person retreats in Italy and Morocco… we had a programme! 'A vision for digital justice organising in Europe' was finally ready to share with the world! Alongside that Weaving Liberation (yes, us!) the entity responsibility for coordinating its implementation, was beginning to really take shape. Have a read of the blog - 🎊 How to throw a wedding for digital justice 🎊 - here: https://lnkd.in/ddyPjZiA to get a taste of how we like to celebrate, and if you like the sound of it, register for our official online launch on June 4th, 17:00 CET here: https://lnkd.in/dibQk2Rh 📸: Lyse Ishimwe

Are you interested in a digital justice ecosystem that advances the visions and priorities of marginalised communities? An ecosystem that deepens infrastructures of organising, solidarity and care? One that supports and sustains the many movements working towards digital liberation? Weaving Liberation sure is! Born out of a collective effort that gathered the imaginations, wisdom and love of racial, social, queer, transfeminist, environmental, economic, and tech activists and funders from all over Europe, Weaving Liberation supports and resources organising towards liberatory digital futures. We partner with others to build spaces, capacity and power for digital justice. We believe that resourcing the imaginations and strategies of movements is what brings about radical change.
