  • The Water Quality Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Nonpoint Source Pollution Control and Water Quality Specialist (Environmental Specialist 4) (In-Training) position. This position is located in our Southwest Region Office (SWRO) in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.   Are you passionate about environmental stewardship and looking to engage in meaningful work aimed at ensuring cool, clean water for aquatic life and communities in the watershed? In this dynamic role, your focus will be on implementing water quality improvement plans in priority watersheds, with an emphasis on addressing pollution issues from agricultural and livestock activities.   • The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) within the Department of Ecology (Ecology) is looking to fill two Program Cultural Resources Specialist (Environmental Planner 4) positions. These positions are located in our Headquarters in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.   There are over 6,200 toxic cleanup sites across Washington that are either in the process of being cleaned up, or still awaiting clean up. As these sites are addressed, activities like demolition and ground disturbance can negatively impact cultural resources such as artifacts, sacred sites, and historic locations. In this critical role, you will ensure that cultural resources are properly considered and preserved throughout the cleanup process, allowing activities to proceed in a timely and appropriate manner. You will conduct consultations and reviews to comply with with Washington State Governor’s Executive Order 21-02, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) regulations.   Your expertise will be integral in developing guidance and training for staff, consulting on work plans to mitigate impacts on cultural resources and updating program policies based on best practices and regulations. You will coordinate with the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP), tribes, and federal, state, and local agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and resolve complex issues related to planning and environmental impact.   • The Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Senior Cap-and-Invest Market Monitor (Financial Examiner 4) (In-Training) position. This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA.   As a Senior Cap-and-Invest Market Monitor, you will play a critical role supporting the successful long-term performance of Washington’s cap-and-invest program by helping ensure that our market stays transparent and free of fraud through monitoring of auctions and trading in allowance and other related markets. With your finance and/or econometric skillset, you’ll assess the market’s health with an eye towards Washington’s statutory commitments to decarbonization and provide input for policy discussions on an ad-hoc basis.
