#HFMA2024 is a wrap! I enjoyed four days of fascinating conversations, connections, growth, and learning. The outstanding C. Ann Jordan kicked off the meeting with a question and call to action for us all: How can we make our healthcare system more financially sustainable? We must all work together across all stakeholder groups intentionally to make this happen. She referenced staggering stats that show our health system will reach $7 trillion by 2030 and $11.8 trillion by 2040 if we don't do something about it. I learned massive amounts about revenue cycle management and the financial business of healthcare, with key recurring themes around #AI, #Sustainability, #Automation, #Denials, and #Burnout. Bottom line: It's hard to get paid as a healthcare provider, and it's not sustainable. We can all do something to help. Overall, the conference session leaders illuminated how technologies like generative AI, autonomous coding, and updated regulations can help improve healthcare revenue cycles, decrease denials, and optimize RCM. We huddled with the most innovative companies and leaders in revenue cycle and healthcare finance.
