This week at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, learn about the American volunteers who fought alongside the French forces before the U.S. officially joined WWI in April 1917. Pvt. Edward Kelley is one of the American volunteers that will be honored during the tour. The Pennsylvania native was one of many Americans who served in the Allied effort before America entered the war. In August 1916, he joined the American Field Service, a group of volunteer ambulance drivers who assisted the French Army. On September 23, 1916, just six days after he linked up with his section in the Verdun sector, Kelley was on his way to a dressing station when a German shell struck a few yards away. Kelley died instantly. He rests in plot B, row 26, grave 05. Join us July 17 at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery for a unique guided visit as part of a new series of summer tours. Attendance is free and does not require registration. For more information, please visit our website: https://bit.ly/3VTqaXc
