At UPA, our programs strive to unify and empower, and we are delighted to highlight our Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) Program. Last September, GIK delivered over 100 hospital beds to six healthcare facilities in the West Bank, including Ahli Hospital in Hebron. In #Jordan, GIK provides sleeping bags to offer warmth and reduce the need for expensive fuel. In #Lebanon, GIK supports approximately 15 sites across camps, enhancing mobile medical teams and mother-child health services. In June, we delivered a massive shipment of pharmaceutical and medical supplies to #Gaza. This included life-saving adrenaline injections, antibiotics, anesthetics, and more. The Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) program is a cornerstone of our work, and we greatly appreciate our dedicated GIK team!

With my team at Iqraa – RUNNING FOR A BRIGHTER PALESTINE My mother was 16 when she lost her home, and everything she owned, during the Palestinian Nakba. Only one thing kept her and her elderly parents out of the refugee camp: her education. With her matriculation certificate, the equivalent of a high school diploma, she was able to get a job with the Red Cross, providing medical care to refugee children. At 16, she became the breadwinner of the family.   For decades, education was the Palestinian’s ticket back to life. It enabled many of us to rebuild our lives, though in exile, and to thrive after the great losses of the Nakba. Education is the one thing no one can take away, though they may try.   When I was 16 (late 1980s), during the First Intifada, Israel ordered our schools closed for months at a time. I write in my book #FugitiveDreams about our struggles to study independently and organize secret classes so we could keep learning.   Today, Gaza is devastated. Even if a ceasefire takes place now, Gaza needs our help to stop the impending famine, to rescue those we can, to provide medical care, and to rebuild. The damage to educational institutions, in addition, threatens to irreparably hurt an entire generation of Gaza’s children. Today, Gaza’s universities are all flattened, and its schools are frequently bombed.   That is why I am running a half-marathon in the fall to raise money for United Palestinian Appeal’s Mahmoud Darwish Scholarship Fund.   You can help by making a donation through the link below. 100% of your donation will go to pay for Palestinian students to attend universities in Palestine and Jordan. The benefits of an education lasts for generations, so your donation will continue helping Palestinian families long after the aid trucks leave.   Please help with a contribution: https://lnkd.in/dfRuHuW8   Thank you!!!

Today is #Eid Al Adha Amidst devastating losses of shelter, security, and most of all lives, over 14,500 of them our children, we reflect on our continued solidarity with our people in #Palestine. In this most somber moment, we come together to unite in support for our brethren. May the spirit of Eid bring hope to us all. Especially the sons and daughters who are looking to us to model what it means to be faithful to our beliefs, and to be determined in our efforts to create a better tomorrow. Eid Mubarak!

UPA has been able to suppprt Al-Awda Hospital with three dental units: One in Rafah, Gaza City, and Jabaliya. We regret to announce that the ones in Rafah and Gaza City have been destroyed in the beginning of the genocide. The clinic in Rafah remains to provide services to our people in #Gaza.

Meanwhile in #Lebanon, UPA continues to support the mental health of children in #Palestinian refugee camps where socioeconomic hardship and the on-going assaults on #Gaza and South Lebanon have made an already tough situation worse. Our kids are our future, and we are able to have a profound impact in the lives of our children through counseling sessions, educational workshops, and community activities, with the assistance of our local partners.
