At United Way of Cass-Clay, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, yet we know that on average nearly 16,000 people in our community, including 6,400 children, experience hunger each year. That’s why this morning we hosted 'Nourishing Our Communities: Solutions to End Hunger Impact Panel' with an incredible group of local leaders who are making a difference in our community every day. Thank you Michelle Draxten Fargo Cass Public Health, Dre Blotsky Sanford Health, Simone Wai Folkways, and Melissa Sobolik Great Plains Food Bank for bringing awareness to the systems in our community that work to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!

We are fortunate to live in a community filled with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. We embrace opportunities to listen, share, and learn with our neighbors. Recently we attended the Somali Heritage Celebration in Broadway Square where Mayor Mahoney proclaimed June 28 as Somali Heritage Day in Fargo. ESHARA, IMMIGRANT DEVELOPMENT CENTER, and Folkways, all partners of ours were involved with bringing this community event to life. Yesterday our team got the opportunity to connect with other community leaders and service providers in creating an aspirational vision for the future of the Downtown Engagement Center. Our goals as a group included ensuring low barrier access, a welcoming environment, and ensuring a Housing First focus. Thank you to The City of Fargo for hosting this thoughtful conversation.
