On June 29, 2024, Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China published amendment to the China RoHS standard GB/T 26572-2011 Requirements of Concentration Limits for Certain Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products. The effective date is January 1, 2026. The amendment adds four phthalates DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP in the restricted substances of electrical and electronic products. The testing standards should refer to GB/T 39560 series. In this regard, the China RoHS standard is gradually aligning with EU RoHS regulations. On July 3, the European Commission (EC) has issued the Rolling List of (groups of) substances for restriction updating Annex I to the Restrictions Roadmap under the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability SWD(2022)128. The updated Rolling List of (groups of) substances for restriction, initially published in April 2022, has been revised on July 1, 2024. The roadmap outlines ongoing efforts and future plans for restrictions under REACH. It prioritizes group restrictions for the most harmful substances to human health and the environment, in line with the EU’s Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability.
