  • Pike County Salvation Army Director Donna Kidd (shown in the middle) accepted a check from Amy Minor, Troy Regional CCO, this week on behalf of Troy Regional employees. Also shown is Anna Lowery, Quality and Education Director/Medical Staff Coordinator. Through Food Bank Fund contributions (made via payroll deductions), Troy Regional employees donated $2,000 to help feed those in need in our community. • We were honored to receive a visit today by a delegation from the Jeollanamdo Office of Education, which is responsible for overseeing education in Jeollanam-do, a province located in the southwestern part of South Korea. Their mission is to provide quality public education for all students, ensuring that no child is left behind. They believe every child is precious, and they strive to support each child’s dreams. Their goal is to create a happy and engaging learning environment in schools, preparing students for a bright future. Led by Park Jae Hyun from the Department of Physical Health, the delegation was hosted by Troy University. Dr LaGary Carter, College of Health Sciences Dean, facilitated their visit to Troy Regional, which was intended to demonstrate the healthcare resources in a rural setting and the differences they see in Korea.

Chief Executive Officer at Troy Regional Medical Center

Honored to serve on the Alabama Hospital Board of directors and President of the Southeast Council. Rick E. Smith, FACHE, CEO at Troy Regional Medical Center, was elected president of the Southeast Regional Council of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA). The election took place at the Association’s recent annual meeting. “The regional hospital councils offer a crucial platform for hospital leaders to network and share best practices, which is incredibly valuable in our evolving healthcare landscape,” said Donald E. Williamson, MD, president of AlaHA. “It is no surprise that a leader like Rick was elected to serve his region in this capacity.” As CEO of Troy Regional, Smith oversees the hospital’s daily operations, management, and continued expansion. Since his arrival in January 2020, he has been a part of the successful completion of more than $3.5m in facility enhancements. Before joining Troy Regional, Smith served as chief operating officer at Orlando Health-Health Central Hospital in the greater Orlando area for six years. Prior to that, he served 16 years as the vice president of Operations for the Bay Medical Sacred Heart Medical Center in Panama City, Fla. Smith holds a master’s degree in health administration, is credentialed in radiology administration, and is board-certified by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) as a fellow. Beyond his role at the Alabama Hospital Association, Smith is active in professional organizations and local civic groups in Troy, such as the Troy Rotary Club, and as a Pike County Chamber of Commerce board member. Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization dedicated to assisting member hospitals in effectively serving Alabama’s healthcare needs through advocacy, representation, education, and service.
