Executive Director - The Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing, Inc.

At SVAM's 10th annual Manufacturing Awards Banquet this year, I had the great pleasure of presenting the first Eric Miller Memorial Award. Eric Miller was SVAM's Treasurer. Eric passed away, unexpectedly, in April of this year. Eric had a great passion of SVAM and its mission and put in many hours in support of its mission. He was someone the SVAM staff came to know as someone we could always count on. To honor Eric, SVAM created the Eric Miller Memorial Award. The intent of this award will be to recognize an individual who has gone above and beyond to support SVAM over the past year. Someone we knew we could count on, like we could count on Eric. This year's winner was Sean Blackwell. Over his many years of affiliation with SVAM, Sean has been vocal about his passion and appreciation for SVAM and its mission. He has participated in or supported multiple SVAM events. When I need someone to speak passionately about how beneficial SVAM is, I grab Sean. When a Board Member vacancy opened up this past year, he enthusiastically stepped up to serve. He’s willing and eager to do whatever it takes to support SVAM, because he truly believes in the value this organization can bring to companies and the region as a whole. Thank you, Sean, for your continued support of SVAM and its mission to support the sustainment and advancement of manufacturing in Southwest Virginia.
