Connecting People. Transforming Organizations.

About us

Training Resources Group, Inc. (TRG) is an employee-owned management consulting and training firm located in Arlington, Virginia. Since its founding in 1973, TRG has grown steadily in size and in our professional capabilities. TRG has worked in over one hundred countries providing training and organizational development services to clients in large and small corporations, international organizations, federal and state government agencies and non-profit organizations. As an employee-owned firm, we are each personally committed to the work we do. We value our company's close-knit community and participatory culture. There is no "majority" shareholder, and in fact, no TRGer owns more than 10% of the company. We manage ourselves through an employee board of directors, committees and client service teams. We pride ourselves on our involvement in running and managing our own business. The clients we work with benefit from the over thirty years of self-management. As a result of the working environment we have created, the vast majority of the consultants who have joined TRG in its forty year history are working at TRG today. When a firm is able to retain its staff, the result is high quality work for its clients. Like our clients, we constantly revise how we do our own work, developing and testing new approaches to leadership, employee involvement, and communications. We use our firm as a learning lab to test out ideas and learn new ways of managing that might prove useful to clients. We strive to remain on the cutting edge of our field by applying state-of-the-art methods to support clients in their own improvement efforts.

  • Congratulations to Sharon Kniss, Organizational Development and Training Consultant, for successfully facilitating a two-week long course on Natural Resource Crimes Investigation as part of TRG's work with the International Programs Office at the USDA Forest Service. The course, hosted at the International Law Enforcement Academy in Botswana, was attended by police and prosecutors from Botswana, Madagascar, Angola, Burundi, Guinea, The Gambia, and Brazil. 🌎 During the course, participants honed their skills at investigating and prosecuting natural resources crimes including illegal logging and mining, wildlife poaching and smuggling, wildfires and arson. The course included hands on practical exercises to develop surveillance skills, crime scene sketching and processing, interviewing techniques, evidence collection, and determining the origin and cause of wildfires. Thanks Sharon for the stellar work! ⭐

As a consultant, I've seen firsthand how burnout and stress can impact professionals across industries. Many of us feel like we're running on empty, struggling to keep up with the constant demands on our time and energy. We're often told that better time management is the key to achieving work-life balance, but in reality, it's rarely enough. What if there was a better way? This five-part series explores the power of energy management and how it can transform the way individuals work and live. It delves into practical strategies for understanding natural energy cycles, setting priorities and boundaries, and incorporating rejuvenating rest into daily routines. The series also breaks down the key differences between time, attention, and energy management, and how these concepts can be used to optimize performance and well-being. Whether you're an entrepreneur, executive, or working professional, these tips can help you take control of your energy, and thrive both on and off the job.

  • It's that time of year again! TRGers celebrated our annual Spring Dinner at Rocklands Farm Winery! The Spring Dinner is one of our longest-running TRG traditions. It is a chance to connect, have fun together, and appreciate the incredible energy and effort it takes to do all we do. We enjoyed delicious food, had fun playing trivia and outdoor games, and captured great memories with the photobooth! #AnnualSpringDinner #celebration #teamevent #summertime #rocklandsfarmwinery

  • The GLUE and Sustainability Committees hosted the first TRG clothing swap for the year! The U.S. EPA estimates that 17 million tons of textile waste ended up in landfills in 2018, an exponentially increasing trend that they've tracked since the 60's. We decluttered our closets and helped keep unwanted items out of landfills. #clothingswap #sustainbility #saveenvironment #environmentallyfriendly
